British band Yes was formed in 1968 in London by John Anderson (vocals) and Chris Squire (bass guitar). They were united by their common views on the development of progressive rock music, and both artists already had some experience in
musical groups. The original line-up of Yes also included Peter Banks (guitar, vocals) and Bill Bruford (drums). In 1969, the group's first album, Yes, was released. The work of young performers was highly praised by music critics and awarded excellent reviews in Rolling Stone magazine. On this album, Yes included a very unusual rendition of The Byrds' single "I See You". Rolling Stone magazine noted the special musical style and refined taste in the performing skills of young musicians. In their second album, released in 1970, Yes used the sound of a symphony orchestra in the arrangements. In the UK, the band's songs were very popular, but in other countries, no one knew anything about Yes.
First success
Musicians strive to make the most of new technologies in their work and update their line-up. Guitarist Steve Howe and keyboardist Rick Wakeman join the band. Yes has its own signaturesound. New work - the album Close To The Edge, released in 1972, was the peak of Yes's creativity. The album becomes gold, and the musicians begin a triumphant tour of the United States. Despite commercial success, musicians leave the Yes group in the following years, and its line-up is constantly changing. In 1976, the group began to collaborate with a new producer, R. Thomas Baker, who had previously worked with Queen. The new Yes album, which was released in 1977 under the name Going For The One, immediately soared to the top of the national charts, and reached number eight in the United States. In subsequent years, the group begins to feverish: new work does not accompany the previous success, disagreements begin, and Anderson and Wakeman leave the group. It wasn't until 1980 that Yes released the again successful album Drama. The subsequent concerts of Yes in Madison Square Garden collect an unprecedented full house. Despite this, guitarist Howe, who is one of Asia's best line-up, leaves the band.
Changes in the group
The renewed composition of Yes in 1983 gave birth to the album 90125, which immediately went platinum, and the single called Owner Of A Lonely Heart took first place in the American charts. Yes music moves away from art rock towards pop music, which is not justified in the future. In the 90s, Yes songs were poorly received,
concerts are cancelled. For the first time after a many-year break for the fortieth anniversary of Yes, in 2008 it is planned to collect the best line-up and go on a world tour. But the tour had to be canceled due to the serious illness of John Anderson. Rock band Yeswent on tour only in the United States with new vocalist Benoit David, and his son Oliver performed instead of Rick Wakeman. Once again, the main line-up of the Yes group gathered in 2011 to record the album Fly from Here, the twenty-first in a row. This work was well received by the band's fans, and the musicians again go on tour in North America. These concerts feature compositions from three of the band's best albums: The Yes album, Close to the Edge and Going for the One. After the tour, the musicians announce that they intend to get back together in 2013 to work in the studio on a new album.
