Have you heard something about the North Ossetian theater? It is a worthy cultural place where you can go with the whole family. We will consider performances, history, reviews in the article, and also talk about theater actors.
History of the Ossetian theater
Before talking about our main topic, dedicated to the North Ossetian theater, it is worth saying that at the beginning of the last century in Ossetia, in principle, there was no professional national theater. But instead, there was the Russian Theater, which at that time already had sufficient experience.
Before the revolution, the Russian Theater managed to stage several Gorky plays. In 1902, a dramatization of the novel "Foma Gordeev" was staged. In the winter of the same year, the premiere of the play "Petty Bourgeois" took place. In 1907-1909, the active director and actor P. Medvedev staged such performances as The Brothers Karamazov, Thunderstorm, etc.
Why do we pay so much attention to the Russian Drama Theatre? The fact is that it was he who prepared and educated the Ossetian audience. That is why the drama theater arose from the bowels of the Russian theater, to which the article will be devoted. Ideas about creating a drama theater were visited by actors and directors of the Russian Theater (D. Koroeva, E. Britaeva, B. Totrova, etc.).
In the 20-30s of the last century, theatrical art began to develop rapidly in North Ossetia, but the main role still belonged to the Russian theater. Around the same time, M. Bulgakov worked in Vladikavkaz, creating the "Days of the Turbins".
Creating a theater
In 1931, to the leadership of the State Institute of Theater Arts. Lunacharsky appealed to the authorities of North Ossetia. They asked to accept several young people into the educational institution. In the summer of 1935, when young people graduated from an educational institution, they formed a troupe of the Ossetian national theater. The North Ossetian Theater was founded in the autumn of 1935. This event was very bright, as the opening was expected for a long time. The theater opened with a play by A. Korneichuk "Plato Krechet". From 1936 to 1941, only 36 plays were staged, of which 16 were written by Ossetian authors.
After the war
The war has made its own adjustments to the activities of the North Ossetian Drama Theatre. In the post-war period, many plays were devoted to the hardships and delights of rural life. Interestingly enough, at this time, comedy becomes the main genre. It is believed that the play "Grooms" by A. Tokayev is one of the best examples of post-war comedy. It was shown not only in all the theaters of the country, but even in Bulgaria, Czechoslovakia and Poland.
Performances
The performance of the Ossetian theater has always been something magical, divorced fromreality and magic. Perhaps it was for this that the Ossetians fell in love with the theater so much. Various performances were shown here, for every taste. As we already know, after the war, rural life became the main theme of the productions. But at the same time, one should not underestimate the role of the themes of revolution and war, which were also present in the theater's repertoire. However, the artists were most attracted to classical productions. Most of all, the audience loved "King Lear" by W. Shakespeare, "Gypsy" by A. Pushkin, "Guilty Without Guilt" by A. Ostrovsky. When the theater was 5 years old, the play "Othello" was staged on the stage. It was repeated on the stage of the North Ossetian Theater for a long time, as it became one of the favorites for the audience. In addition, the leading role was played by the inimitable V. Tkhapsaev, who won the love and recognition of the audience.
Actors of the Ossetian Theater
The theater quickly became a favorite place for spending leisure time among Ossetians. Diploma performances of the actors (“Plato Krechet”, “Liar”, “Flying Doctor”, “Lawyer Patlen”) were received by the audience with great enthusiasm. Gradually, the theater entered the life of the Ossetians. In many ways, this was facilitated by the very first theater actors who glorified it in the world: S. Tautieva, B. Borukaeva, V. Tsirikhova, V. Ballaeva, I. Kokaeva, V. Makieva and others. Ossetians remember and honor all these names since it was these people who wrote the history of the theater. The first actors of the theater created for him the fame that still exists. It is to them that the theater owes such attention from the public.
It can be said that the cultural institution has flourishedthanks to the graduates of the Ossetian branch of GITIS. But in parallel with this, a new galaxy of talented artists was maturing, who had to glorify their beloved theater even more. We are talking about pupils of the Russian Theater (Vladikavkaz) V. Tkhapsaev and V. Karginova. As we already know, V. Tkhapsaev won the love of the public with the role of Othello. But that was only the beginning of his career. After that, he played in hundreds of performances and in each of them was inimitable. However, he entered the list of the best performers of the Shakespearean repertoire in the whole world! Critics of those times wrote in newspapers that, watching how V. Tkhapsaev plays, you understand that W. Shakespeare himself saw the hero in this way, this is exactly how the hero was in reality. The activity of this outstanding actor received the highest marks not only in Russia, but throughout the world. In the fall of 1960, V. Tkhapsaev (Balo) was awarded the title of People's Artist of the USSR. Together with him, such an award was received by M. Tsalikov, V. Ballaev, T. Karyaeva, E. Tumenova.
40-50s
This period was very bright for the North Ossetian Opera and Ballet Theatre. At that time, such people as K. Slanov, V. Khugaeva, Z. Kochisova, N. Salamov worked here. Theater actively developed in the musical sphere. Increasingly, performances based on the works of Russian and world classics are staged: "Carmen" by G. Bizet, "Tosca" by D. Verdi, "The Demon" by A. Rubinstein.
Today, the North Ossetian Drama Theater is still in demand. It is loved by spectators and tourists. The theater itself still occupiesa leading place in the dramatic culture of the republic.
Modernity
In 1993, the North Ossetian Theater received the title of "Academic". He was also named after the famous and talented actor V. Tkhapsaev. The leadership of this theater still remains due to the fact that old actors are replaced by new ones, no less bright and talented. In 2000, the play "Bitter Rhymes" was staged. It was dedicated to the life and work of Kosta Khetagurov.
In the last 10 years, the North Ossetian theater has faced some problems. The main one lies in the absence of a professional national play that meets the needs of our time. The theater's desire to preserve cultural identity leads to the fact that obsolete, archaic plays are shown that no longer evoke vivid emotions in the viewer. This trend slowed down the development of the theater a little, did not allow it to keep up with the times. This problem was discussed at the 1st and 2nd festival of national theaters of the North Caucasus under the title "Scene without Borders". They were held in Vladikavkaz in 2000 and 2002. The participants of the festivals were representatives of all theaters of the North Caucasus. This event showed community, friendship and need for each other. The main thing that the participants took away from this event is that it is necessary to enrich themselves with cultural ties, and not concentrate around one thing. The Forum contributed to the strengthening of the artistic theatrical and stage life in Russia and the preservation of stability in the Caucasus.
Maintheater artists today do a lot to give it a second wind. The main artist is A. Kubalov, and the production designer is E. Vergeles. The staff is small, but all of them are active and talented people who make every effort to return the North Ossetian Theater to its former glory.
Repertoire
The theater's repertoire is represented by classical works. There are, of course, other productions, but the emphasis is on classical motifs. In the near future, the following performances are going on in the hay:
- Zola.
- "Tartuffe".
- Romeo and Juliet.
- "Two weddings".
- “Inspector”.
There are also several premieres awaiting the audience: “Frozen”, “Farewell to the ravine!”, “Old House”, “Love, do not love”, “Bad Boys”. Children's performances are often held: "Vovka in the Far Far Away Kingdom", "Hare Happiness", "Teremok". Toddlers are also waiting for the premiere: "The Kingdom of Flowers", "Ali Baba and 40 Songs of the Persian Bazaar".
Reviews
Reviews about the Ossetian theater are different, we can say that they are divided. Someone really likes that the theater remains true to the old traditions. Such people love classical performances, so they are happy to visit the theater. But these are the minority. Others want to see something new that meets the requirements of modernity. This part of the audience complains about the monotonous repertoire, the lack of new trends.
Summing up, I would like to say that the North Ossetian Theater is a place that must beworth to visit. In any case, it has a rich history. Yes, he remains true to the old traditions, but they can enchant an inexperienced viewer, show him all the richness of colors and emotions of classical works.
