If you look at the feedback from readers, then Sergei Shcheglov seems to be such a strong middle peasant in the writing environment. He has never had and probably never will have the title of master of Russian science fiction, like Lukyanenko, Belyanin or Perumov, but he has his own target audience, which considers his work worthy of attention.

About Style

This author's books are light, entertaining, and a fusion of classic science fiction and fashionable sword-and-sorcery fantasy. At the same time, Sergey Shcheglov writes rather unbanally, he has an unusual view of reality and many exciting ideas and concepts.

Someone will find the works uninteresting. Some of them are too stylized as fabulous Russia, they have a lot of patriotism on display, which is also perceived ambiguously. But, despite all the shortcomings, many still like them.

In the books, the influence of br. Strugatsky, but this is only a plus. Many domestic science fiction writers start by imitating the masters and only benefit from this - a recognizable style, good literary devices, and language appear.

Fans of domestic modern fiction are recommended to read. Perhaps Sergey Shcheglov will become the very author whose works you will re-read, returning to them for a special ironic mood and light atmosphere.
