Series and films about supernatural beings are apparently invisible. Their boom has come in the last few years. Previously, seeing a werewolf in a movie was a curiosity (I remember The Wolf with Jack Nicholson, American Werewolf in Paris). But from Underworld to Van Helsing to Werewolves, Blood and Chocolate, Twilight and the like, half-wolf movies are on the rise.
Wolf Lake, filmed in 2001, was almost a pioneer of this sub-genre of horror, ahead of Teen Wolf, The Vampire Diaries (there were werewolves there too) and Wolf's Blood (a British TV series, not to be confused with a Russian action movie!).
At the most interesting place
Only one season was filmed. On this series "Wolf Lake" was limited. After the final scenes, there were many unresolved questions and unsolved mysteries. That's the reason for such a sharp cessation of filming was a mystery to most viewers. Either the creators ran out of money, or the Wolf Lake ratings earned low. But the series, despite its brevity, turned out to be quite good, quite worthy of paying attention to it.
Among the dense forests
It all starts with a stormy love scene: Seattle police officer John Kanin proposes his hand and heart to his girlfriend Ruby. To the delight of the guy, the chosen one agrees to become his wife. And then a terrible thing happens: the bride disappears. She was clearly attacked, but by whom and why - Kanin cannot find answers. Then the groom goes to Ruby's small homeland, to a provincial town lost among dense forests with the intriguing name Wolf Lake (in English it sounds like Wolf Lake). That's where something mysterious lurks! People here stick to the community, they don't really like to contact the outside world. They are clearly hiding something. Getting to the bottom of the truth, you can stumble upon something very impartial. That's what happened to John. It is not without reason that the city is so called, it is true that half-humans-half-wolves have long settled in it, since ancient times keeping the traditions of their ancestors. How should they react to a stranger invading their territory? But as they say, to live with wolves - howl like a wolf, and the main character will show himself yet …
You won't get bored
In the series "Wolf Lake" a good ensemble cast has been selected. The protagonist John is played by Lou Diamond Phillips, in his appearance one can guess a mixture of races and bloodlines. The real name of this Cherokee Indian from the Philippines is Lou Dimon Upchurch. His filmography includes more than 100 works, mostly in serials. The role of Ruby Wilder was played by Mia Kirshner. An interesting image was created by Paul Wesley (admirers of the television series "The Vampire Diaries" are crazy about him, he is init solos with "serial brother" Ian Somerhalder). Good and another clear Indian, however, Canadian - Graham Greene. For his role in the Costner film Dances with Wolves, this actor was nominated for an Oscar. Of the female characters, I would also like to mention Mary Elizabeth Winstead.
What else should you pay attention to in the film? Not bad special effects for the series, wonderful camera work, stunning landscapes. "Wolf Lake" is an interesting fusion of mysticism and romance, viewers will not get bored while watching it.
