Multiple winner of international music competitions - today is our story about him.
Biography
Daniil Trifonov, whose biography begins in March 1991, was born in Russia, in the city of Nizhny Novgorod. The boy was born into a musical family, and this may have predetermined his fate. Daniil's great-grandmother and great-grandfather sang and, in addition, were engaged in assembling accordions. Grandma led the choir. Mom is a teacher of musical theory, dad is a composer. In his youth, Oleg Trifonov was even fond of punk rock, but in adulthood he switched to other, more serious music.
The future piano master began studying music at the age of five. Absolute pitch - that's what Daniil Trifonov received as a gift from nature. The boy's parentsrealized this when the child began to show interest in his father's synthesizer. Mom and dad offered the young musician an alternative - the piano. Daniel liked it.
Later the Trifonov family moved to Moscow, and at the age of nine Daniil went to music school. The boy was very lucky - he got to study with a talented teacher - Tatyana Zelikman, who brought up a lot of gifted musicians - Konstantin Lifshitz, Alexei Volodin, Alexander Kobrin.
First successes
Daniil Trifonov studied with Vladimir Dovgan for three years (from 2006 to 2009) while studying music at Gnesinka. This developed in the boy the already existing ability to create works of his own composition, which he continues to do to this day. The young composer's collection includes piano, orchestral and chamber music.
At the age of seventeen, the young musician became a laureate of the International Scriabin and Piano Competitions of the Republic of San Marino.
In 2009, Daniil Trifonov began studying with Sergei Babayan in the USA at the Cleveland Institute of Music.
Slava was not long in coming. The first serious success came to Trifonov in 2010. He became a laureate of the International Chopin Piano Competition in Warsaw, receiving bronze and a mark for the best performance of a mazurka. By the way, this competition, according to the musician, most of all tempered his character, because it was there that the performers and jury members of the highest level were concentrated.
Global recognition
In 2011Daniil Trifonov became the winner of two international music competitions at once. In May, the pianist was named a laureate of the Arthur Rubinstein International Piano Competition. At the competition, Daniil received gold, an audience award and a mark for the best performance of Chopin and chamber music.
In June of the same year, Trifonov became a laureate of the International Tchaikovsky Competition, receiving gold, an audience award and a prize for a brilliant performance of a concerto with a chamber orchestra.
Today Daniil Trifonov is a pianist who collaborates with stars of the first magnitude. Conductors are on the same stage with him: Mikhail Pletnev, Krzysztof Penderecki, Vladimir Fedoseev. The best concert halls in the world opened their doors to the musician - Pleyel in Paris, Carnegie Hall in New York, London's Wigmore Hall.
Trifonov performs with the world's largest orchestras - the London Symphony Orchestra and the Mariinsky Theater Orchestra conducted by Valery Gergiev. He gives concerts with the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra conducted by Zubin Mehta, interacts with the Warsaw Philharmonic Orchestra conducted by Anthony Wit.
Working moments
In the modern world, Daniil Trifonov is a famous person. However, success did not come to him spontaneously. It took years of hard many hours of training, character and perseverance, and most importantly, the realization of what all this is for.
Today, a young man spends his energy in work on two directions - composing his own musical compositions andpreparation for performances at various concert venues around the world.
Speaking about learning musical material, the young man admits that the time it takes depends on many factors. In particular, due to the large workload and participation in various touring programs, it is not possible to devote enough time to studying new material. You constantly have to find ways, find time, condense an already busy schedule. The complexity of the material also matters.
If you get a short vacation or a break from work, when you can not think about anything, but relax and meditate, learning new material usually takes one to two weeks, a maximum of a month.
About the performances
When preparing for a performance before a concert, the pianist carefully discusses all the nuances with his mentor. Together they analyze the technical details, choose the right pace, rhythm. This is very important when performing with an orchestra, because such inconsistent moments can lead to rhythmic spread - the audience may simply not hear the musician in the hall.
Daniel in his work tries to focus on the process and does not give free rein to unnecessary thoughts, does not spray on trifles. Despite victories in competitions, he does not relax and does not let success go to his head. The young man frankly declares that when he is praised, he does not miss the words of congratulations through himself, everything goes past his ears.
Competitions in the life of Trifonov played an important role. The musician says thatspecial experience, very valuable and necessary. The specificity of competitions is such that they help the participant learn to manage their feelings and emotions, to gather their will into a fist. And this is very necessary in the further work of the musician. However, it is very important to keep your distance from the very realization that you are participating in the competition, you need to focus only on the music.
According to Daniil, it is worth listening to the performance of other contestants only to understand the acoustics of the hall. However, during a concert, the halls are full of listeners and the acoustic characteristics of the room change one way or another.
About music
Of course, in the life of a musician there is a place not only to play the piano. Studying painting, playing sports, traveling, spending time with friends - Daniil Trifonov also pays attention to this. However, the young man does not have a girl that the media would know about.
And although these are also important things, they are still secondary for the guy. In the foreground, Daniel has music. The pianist says that for successful performances and interaction with the listener, special energy and fuse are needed. You need a source from which you can draw strength. For Trifonov, such a spring is the fine arts, namely, the canvases of Kandinsky, Vrubel, Serov. Their tenderness, softness and depth are often noticed in Trifonov's playing by music critics.
At the same time, the performed classics influence the style of Daniil's own compositions. In his works, the influences of Prokofiev, Stravinsky,Scriabin, Rachmaninov.
Speaking about music in general, Trifonov suggests that a musician is a kind of intermediary between the composer who created the piece of music and the listener in the hall. Because the composer creates something, the performer presents the music under his own sauce of perception of this material, and the viewer hears a third, something individual, personal.
According to Daniil, music is the greatest gift to a person from above, and personally he, Daniil, will not live a day without it.
