Vsevolod Safonov was not going to be an actor, he wanted to go to the front, he was eager to fight. Having graduated from an aviation technical school just in the last year of the war, he waited with bated breath when, finally, it would be possible to put all the acquired knowledge into practice.
His Majesty the case
All his peers had already fought, he felt an incredible craving for flight, a great desire to contribute to the defeat of the Nazi invaders. What was the disappointment of the young man when the commission did not let him through for he alth reasons. Life lost its meaning, and Vsevolod Safonov did not know what to do next. He agreed to the request of a friend to go with him to the entrance exams at the Shchukin school. Without any interest, without even having learned a single piece normally, the young man passed the difficult exam with brilliance and was very liked by the entire commission.
Professor Orochko gladly enrolled him in his class. At first it was difficult, because the thought of aviation did not leave Safonov, but after the first rehearsals he suddenly felt that this was his calling.
After graduating from college, he immediatelywas invited to the Chamber Theater, where they entrusted several small roles. This was followed by work in "Satire", where Vsevolod shone in many performances, honing his skills. In 1952, he received a very responsible job in a theater in the GDR. The best were sent on such creative trips, and Vsevolod Safonov felt his strength. Work in the GDR brought up endurance in him, because sometimes he had to play 3-4 performances a day, besides, the troupe constantly moved from garrison to garrison, and Vsevolod traveled almost all of Germany. The troupe gave numerous concerts, played patriotic performances to support the military spirit of our soldiers.
First film roles
Safonov was invited to the cinema for the first time in 1956, and immediately to the main role. Vsevolod agreed, because the film was called "Soldiers", he was finally able, even on the screen, to realize his crystal dream. The directors really liked the restrained aristocratic manner of the young actor, his textured appearance looked perfect in close-ups, and offers for the main roles followed one after another.
Military themes became his forte, he looked impressive in military uniform. All the images of those years were courageous, solid, without halftones, real positive characters. One of the most famous, which brought true glory to Safonov, was the role in the film "The Case of the Motley", where he played an employee of the MUR. His calm manner and deep gaze of light, almost transparent eyes fascinated the audience, he immediately becamefavorite of the public, and the audience went to the cinemas "on Safonov".
Actor Safonov Vsevolod aroused the interest of the public, his films were eagerly awaited. It compares favorably with the boring images of a sort of shirt-guys, whose souls were wide open, because such images were predictable, and therefore of little interest.
Belorussky railway station
As it turned out, the main role has not yet been played. When Vsevolod Safonov received an invitation to star in the "Belarusian Station", he immediately realized that this was his finest hour, and he knew in advance what his hero would turn out to be. The stellar cast, the script, poignant in its tragedy, and the theme, close to everyone, made this film a landmark. The first chords of "There Birds Don't Sing" are chilling.
The picture received a huge number of awards, became a truly Russian film, showed the tragedy that millions of Soviet people had to endure. Vsevolod Safonov, whose biography began at the flight school, became the personification of the military era.
Daughter
While still an unknown actor, Vsevolod married Valeria Rubtsova, who was the director of Mosfilm. The couple met in Germany, where both worked in the theater of the Western Group of Forces. When the contract ended and they returned to their homeland, they decided to sign. They had a daughter, Elena, who later became a famous and beloved actress.
She conquered not only domestic cinema, but also became known abroad as a characteristic heroine. The piercing story of a simple Soviet single mother - the film "Winter Cherry" - was watched by millions. They talked about this tape everywhere, made predictions about how this life story would end, what would be the fate of the main character. For a long time, Elena Safonova was identified with her heroine Olga. She dearly loved her father and always mentioned what influence he had on her fate. Elena recalls her childhood in the theater, where her parents took her to their rehearsals, which sometimes lasted until late at night.
Love of a lifetime
Vsevolod Safonov, whose personal life has always interested the public, never spread this topic. His impressive appearance as a hero-lover excited the minds of many women, but Vsevolod was an exemplary family man. Everything changed when Vsevolod met with actress Elsa Lezhdey.
The famous beauty, the ex-wife of Vladimir Naumov, has always been in the spotlight because of her extraordinary beauty. The first time they met was on the set of the film "Shield and Sword", but after that they lost sight of each other. Their meeting after 15 years became fateful.
Elsa Lezhdey
Vsevolod and Elsa starred in the same film, a spark ran between them. Lezhdey was famous by that time, fame was brought to her by the series "Experts are investigating", in which she played the beautiful medical examiner Kibrit. After a while they decided to live together. Vsevolod by that time was not worriedthe best stage of his life, as he was recently divorced and drank a lot. He constantly reproached himself that he was guilty of a divorce, and missed his daughter very much.
Elsa literally pulled the actor out of a severe depression. She set him a condition that would happen to him only if Vsevolod takes up his mind, stops feeling sorry for himself and will be able to enjoy life again. I must say that their relationship was full of love and understanding, the creative crisis was over, Vsevolod continued his successful career, his wife supported her husband in every way in all endeavors, and they starred in many films together.
Death of an actor
Elza Lezhdey and Vsevolod Safonov lived happily for 20 years, and only death separated them. Vsevolod fell seriously ill, he had an inoperable tumor. It died out in a matter of months.
After the death of her beloved husband, Elsa led a secluded life, no longer filmed and did not communicate with journalists. Actor Safonov Vsevolod has remained to this day one of the brightest representatives of his era. His works are still interesting to the audience.
Vsevolod Safonov, whose filmography includes over 40 films, was able to bring into the cinema the image of a whole person who does not bend before difficulties and knows how to be friends and sincerely love.
