Boris Klyuev is an actor of the old Soviet school. Like most representatives of this cohort, he went his way to glory completely, without passing a single step. He began, despite the higher acting education, with the roles of mass and episodic. However, the actor has achieved success, he is recognizable and loved by the audience.
Childhood
Boris did not study very hard at school. The family was incomplete, the mother raised her son alone, having been widowed early, it was very difficult for her. His father served as an artist, died during a tour of a heart attack when the boy was only four (in 1948). Mom devoted her whole life to her son, she did not get married anymore. Like many of his Moscow peers who grew up in the post-war years, Boris Klyuev was also subject to the notorious "influence of the street". His biography could have been much less successful if it were not for Claudia Polovikova, a wonderful actress from the Moscow Drama Theater, who once decided to put on a school play and noticed a promising young man. The role was a match for the performer, "devil of the first rank" in "Devil's Mill". Even then, an unusual and some kind of “not our” appearance distinguishedyoung man, and negative charm later helped in the profession he chose. Needless to say, the schoolchildren who watched the performance liked the spectacle, and the performer of the "first-rate" minister of hell became a popular personality.
Admission to drama school
The young man had to start working early, right after school, and in the simplest working positions. In order to improve their well-being, they had to do everything they paid for: dig the soil, wear a square, roll a round one. My father once studied at the "Pike" (Shchukin Theater School), Boris Klyuev decided to follow in his footsteps, successfully passed the exams, but the documents were not accepted due to the upcoming draft into the ranks of the armed forces. Then the young man tried to become a student of "Sliver" (school named after Shchepkin), but even there the situation turned out to be similar. Three years in military boots and a cap were not in vain, the young man got stronger and matured, while not giving up his dream of becoming an actor.
Early years in art
In 1969, he still graduated from the school. M. S. Shchepkin and received distribution to the Maly Theater. In his student years, there was also an acquaintance with the "magic world of cinema", although very approximate. Subtle episodes and extras have become both a school and a way to earn extra money. The young actor Boris Klyuev briefly appeared on the movie screen in the form of a French soldier (“War and Peace”), then a patrolman from The Punisher (suitable appearance affected), then a reporter (“Red Tent”). Not always his name was even mentioned in shooting ranges. Aboutthe situation was the same on the stage: either the third patient in the "Chamber", then the second policeman from the "Vanity Fair", then the second lord in the "Glass of Water". These wordless roles (or “The meal is served!”, as the artists call them among themselves) at that time were an inevitable stage in the life of every young minister of Melpomene, and Boris Klyuev did not see anything offensive in this. His biography was enriched with interesting and serious works after "Summer Residents", a performance staged based on the play by A. M. Gorky, where he was entrusted with the character of Zamyslov. He had to endure the whims of E. A. Bystritskaya, a real star of the stage and screen, but the reward was success and great experience. The chief director of the Maly Theater Varpakhovsky believed in the talent of the young actor, and they began to entrust him with other interesting roles.
Cinema
In the seventies, Boris Klyuev interested filmmakers solely as the owner of a "foreign", "White Guard" appearance, which corresponded to expressive, but most often negative, characters. This is how the actor was remembered for episodic roles in "The Fall of the Empire", "Walking Through the Torments" and some other films. In the next decade, Mycroft, the brother of Sherlock Holmes, violated the tradition of "hostility", which cannot be attributed to the villains. Rochefort from The Three Musketeers by Jungvald-Khilkevich turned out to be interesting and convex. However, all these roles were secondary and remembered little. But Trianon has become a real example of negative charm.
"TASS is authorized…" and the image of a spy
TV movie-multi-series about the work of the Soviet KGB counterintelligence "TASS authorized …" aroused great interest, especially since it was based on many events that took place in real life. It was not easy to decide to play a spy, the mentality of our viewer is such that he often associates a character with a performing actor, but Boris Klyuev understood that such an anti-hero would be remembered, and he was not mistaken. Oddly enough, but it was the image of a traitor that raised the artist's popularity to unprecedented heights, especially among women. Some episodes were even cut out of the picture so that they would not distract viewers from empathizing with the courageous struggle of the Chekists against the secret intrigues of the imperialists. By the way, in this film, the actor played two roles (actually a spy and a KGB officer, who, in turn, plays the role of a traitor). At the same time, the Chekist had to film for longer than a foreign agent.
Voice acting
There is another part of the acting profession that Klyuev is engaged in. In it, he can also be defined as a "fighter of the invisible front." Foreign films need to be translated and dubbed in high quality. Many characters from foreign-produced blockbusters and cartoons speak in the voice of Boris Klyuev. It is enough to mention King Triton from The Little Mermaid, Richis from Perfumer and Boris Balkan from The 9th Gate to appreciate the artist's high level of skill in this difficult task. In the wonderful film Dogville, the voice-over is also his.
New times
In the days of the USSR, any motion picture was alreadyat the stage of conception, it was repeatedly filtered through an ideological sieve. But even the "all-seeing eye" did not let some works through, and then the finished film was put on the shelf. Despite this, many of the works of those years can safely be called masterpieces. After the lifting of censorship, viewers expected a cultural surge. This did not happen, although now it was possible to shoot about everything.
The roles of Boris Klyuev in crime serials were performed at a high professional level, but the material itself, as they say, "didn't pull". He wore a general's uniform, and this was used many times in Kamenskaya, Blind, Defense of the Krasins, Nine Unknowns and other films that hardly anyone will remember in ten years. Boris Klyuev gained particular popularity by starring in the Voronins. Despite by no means a youthful age, the actor became the idol of youth, especially young girls. Having met him on the street, they do not believe the happiness of breathing the same air with the artist, being close to him, to prove the reality of this fact, they ask to take a picture together or give an autograph. They shout: “Look, this is Klyuev himself!” Boris Vladimirovich does not refuse these young creatures, although he himself treats this “beak mania” with a fair amount of irony. A real artist, brought up on the classics, certainly knows the price of serial "masterpieces". But the actor does not categorically accept accusations of "omnivorousness". After all, the artist's craft is to play a movie, and therefore, if someone does not like it, then you can not watch it. And claims should be made not to actors, but to directors and producers.
Finance
It's hard for an artist to sell his work. It turns out that an artist, musician or painter should praise themselves, and not everyone can do this. The pay for acting is very different. Having starred in a simple series, you can earn pretty good money, while the daily exhausting work in the theater is valued no higher than the work of a middle manager in a large firm, or even more modestly. Teaching at a theater school is also far from a sinecure. There were attempts to deceive the actor, sometimes successful. In order to avoid misunderstandings with prices and calculations, actor Boris Klyuev hired an agent. This wonderful woman takes care of all disputes and does not allow her esteemed client to be deceived.
Personal life behind the scenes
Boris Klyuev, whose family has always been, in his own words, "behind the scenes", does not like to discuss his personal life. The actor managed to find his "second half" on the third attempt. Unfortunately, the actor's son died young, at the age of 23. Boris Klyuev's wife, Victoria, has nothing to do with theater and cinema, she is a former athlete. The acquaintance took place a long time ago, almost four decades ago, at a party. First, a spiritual closeness arose, Boris and Victoria often talked and realized that there was much in common in their views on life issues. Then a strong feeling arose, two divorces and one marriage, which turned out to be so successful that it continues to this day. The couple live very friendly and spend all their free time together.
