The real name of the actress is Phyllis Isley. She was born in Tulsa, Oklahoma in 1919. Phyllis was an only child.

After school, the girl entered Northwestern University, one of the most prestigious educational institutions in Illinois, then transferred to the American Academy of Dramatic Arts in New York. There Phyllis met future actor Robert Walker. The young people immediately liked each other and got married in January 1939.

Phylis and Robert returned to Tulsa and worked in radio, then moved to Hollywood.
