Pyotr Marchenko was born in December 1969. His family lived in Moscow, his parents had a good education and belonged to the intelligentsia. His mother's name is Olga Efimovna, and she was a researcher, and his father, Valentin Petrovich, worked as an editordocumentaries and journalists. A little later, Marchenko Sr. held a quite high position at Mosfilm and worked in one of the Moscow newspapers. Unfortunately, Peter's father has already passed away, but it is likely that the love and craving for life on the other side of the blue screen was transferred to the popular TV presenter from his father.

In one of his recent interviews, Petr Valentinovich admitted that in childhood, like many guys, he dreamed of becoming a pilot. The young man was imbued with such ideas regarding his future profession very seriously, but a spinal injury prevented him from translating them into reality.

After graduating from school, Petr Marchenko first received a philological education, having studied at the Faculty of Russian Literature and Language. And only a few years later, in 1991, he graduated from the Faculty of Journalism at Moscow State University, having received his second higher education as a journalist.

Radio career

Petr Marchenko began his career as a radio presenter on Ekho Moskvy radio. There he worked for 4 years in an informational news program. We can say that he got this position by accident, because his mother, listening to this radio station, once found out that there was a recruitment of presenters.

Petr Marchenko came to the interview and was completely sure that he would be offered the role of a DJ in some entertainment program. As a result, he was offered the role of a news anchor, which the young man happily accepted.

Coming to TV

In 1996, Marchenko's life and career changed dramatically and again-still randomly. Once on the street he saw Yevgeny Kiselev passing by. Peter approached him and simply asked him to take him to work on the NTV channel. Marchenko says that he was counting on the position of a correspondent, but when he was offered to work as a host of an information program, he did not hesitate for a long time and immediately agreed. So, since 1996, Petr Marchenko has been a TV presenter on the NTV channel. At first, he hosted the morning and afternoon broadcasts of the Segodnya program, and since 2001, in turn with T. Mitkovskaya, he has also been filming in evening releases.

There are rumors that over time, conflicts began to arise between Marchenko and Mitkovskaya, who at that time was also the editor-in-chief on NTV. This state of affairs coincided with the fact that Pyotr Valentinovich received an enviable offer to work on Channel One from K. Ernst himself. And this time, Marchenko did not refuse another advantageous offer. Having got on the First Channel, cherished for many, at different periods of time he led programs such as:

• "Sunday Time".

Further, for several years, Marchenko managed to work on several television channels, including Law TV, Expert TV and Ren-TV.

Private life

For his 46 years, the TV presenter managed to be officially married three times. Almost nothing is known about his first wife. In his second marriage, his son Valentin was born, who, most likely, was named after his grandfather. At the momentthe TV presenter lives with his third wife, Svetlana. They met during a traffic jam when their cars were parallel to each other. The woman stared at the handsome driver, and in response he handed her his business card. She called Peter back, they met and stayed together.

At the same time, Petr Marchenko, whose wife has been living with him for several years, does not draw sudden conclusions and does not claim that this marriage may be the last. In one of his interviews, the TV presenter said that only time will tell how many years he and Svetlana will be able to live together.
