"Moon Kingdom" is a film by famous American director Wes Anderson. The script was created by him in collaboration with Roman Coppola. The world saw the picture in 2012.

Moon Kingdom plot

The film takes place in the 60s of the twentieth century on one of the islands of New England. Two teenagers in love run away from adults in search of a place where they can be happy.

Sam Shikasky is an orphan boy scout who has become an outcast because of his temper and cannot make friends. Suzy Bishop is a restless, not very talkative girl of twelve years. She lives in her dreams and tries not to notice that her mother is cheating on her father with the local sheriff.

After Sam goes missing, the Boy Scout leader organizes a search and tries to investigate the case. As a result, a fight breaks out between him and the other boys. Susie pounces on one of the attackers and stabs him with a pair of scissors.

At this time, the local authorities, led by the sheriff, are also looking for missing children with might and main. When they find Sam and Susie, they forbid them to see each other. And they even want to send the boy to a boarding school for difficult orphans, where he is threatenedshock therapy. Because of this, the Boy Scouts change their attitude towards the main characters and arrange an escape for them.

On the way, the lovers are married in a church and vow to be faithful to each other until death. Heavy rain begins, which destroys the dam. Fleeing from the disaster, the entire population of the island hides in the church. That's where Sam and Sue come in.

The movie ends well, the sheriff wants to adopt the boy and he goes for it to be close to Susie, now nothing will interfere with their love.

In order to find suitable filming locations for the film, Wes Anderson used the "Google" system and eventually chose the scenery of Roth Island near Narragansett Bay. All furnishings inside Sue's house and many other buildings were taken from the Thousand Islands Nature Park.
