Bunker is a 2011 psychological thriller film directed by Andres Bays. In terms of atmosphere and some plot intricacies, the picture is vaguely reminiscent of David Fincher's Panic Room or Nick Hamm's Pit with Keira Knightley in the title role. But, alas, you can’t call “Bunker” as successful and in demand: reviews of the film are ambiguous both from critics and viewers.

The creators of the picture

"Bunker" is a film whose director, before the premiere of the thriller, was not known either in Hollywood or in Europe. For Andres Bays, the tape became the first project that "broke out" in international distribution.

Bice is a native of the small Colombian town of Cali. He started his career in the 2000s. from the filming of short films and low-budget films. Often Bays had to act as a screenwriter, director, and editor at the same time.

Basically, the film crew of "Bunker" consisted ofpeople with whom Bays collaborated on certain projects. The only exception is the artist Bernardo Trujillo, who is known for his talented work on the set of Frida, starring Salma Hayek.

From the early works of the director, one can single out the drama "Satan", based on the novel of the same name by Mario Mendoza. In 2013, after the premiere of Bunker, another Bais film was released in limited release - the historical drama Roa. This was followed by participation in the filming of several TV series, among which the Narcos project, which received two Golden Globes, was recognized as the best.

The first days in a new place are euphoric. A couple in love rents an old mansion from a pleasant lady of German origin. Adrian continues to make progress in his career, and in his free time, together with Belen, they learn a new city, a new culture. However, Belen can't shake the thought that her lover is cheating on her.

Tormented by jealousy, Belen shares his feelings with Emma, the landlord. An older woman gives her unorthodox advice: formally break up with Adrian and see how he reacts. But only not in a figurative sense, but in the most direct way: to hide in a secret room behind the wall of their joint bedroom and “spy” on your lover a little.

Belen so anddoes, only in her haste she loses the key to her hideout and is locked in a soundproof bunker room. With no food, no contact with the outside world, no hope of getting out, she has to watch Adrian's new romance day by day until she finds the only way to signal her presence in the house…

K. Gutierrez as Adrian

Kim Gutierrez is an actor of Spanish origin. Trained at the renowned Nancy Tunion School of Dramatic Art.

Kim Gutierrez

Kim Gutiérrez began his film career by starring in the Italian film The Nun and the Spanish drama Without You. A significant role in the career of an aspiring performer was played by the participation in the film Azuloscurocasinegro by Daniel Arevalo. For the embodiment on the screens of the image of Jorge - a guy with a difficult fate - Kim received an honorary Goya Award for the best acting debut.

After such a successful start, Gutiérrez is finally getting lead roles in more heavily funded films: Bunker by Andres Bays, Cousins and My Big Spanish Family by Daniel Arévalo, Epidemic by the Pastor Brothers.

In the film "Bunker" the performer got the role of a ladies' man and heartthrob. Adrien easily enters into relationships with women and does not have serious feelings for anyone.

A couple of days after the mysterious disappearance of his girlfriend, the protagonist of the film brings a new passion to the house - Fabiana. The police suspect the musician of the murder of his ex-girlfriend, but Adrian does not seem to care: he continues to live for his own pleasure.

WhenFabiana suddenly disappears from his house in exactly the same way as Belen, Adrian finds an old key on the piano and a photograph of him together with Belen. Will the main character guess what kind of key was in his hands? History is silent about this.

K. Lago as Belen

In the thriller "Bunker" Clara Lago played the role of a prisoner of the secret room - Belen. Tempted by the idea of testing her lover's feelings, Lago's heroine falls into a trap. She tries to knock, scream, call for help, but the dense walls of the bunker completely isolate all sounds.

After a couple of days, the feeling of hunger and debilitating fear is added to the despair of having to witness Adrian's turbulent personal life: the bunker is designed in such a way that you can see and hear everything that happens in the neighboring rooms.

Belen hated Adrian's new mistress with all her heart, but the irony of fate is that it was Fabiana who first noticed the presence of someone else in the house, found the lost key to the bunker and got to the bottom of what was happening. Belen hoped that her opponent would release her. But to her horror, she discovered that Fabiana had slightly different plans.

M. Garcia as Fabiana

Colombian actress Martina Garcia started her modeling career at the age of 14. When it came time to graduate, the girl became a student at the drama school in Bogotá. Martina Garcia has been acting in films since 1999.

Garcia's career is mainly related to TV shows. Among the full-length projects, there are only a thriller"The Art of Losing", the picture "Operation E" and the drama "Bunker".

The 2011 film directed by Andrés Baies opened up new horizons for Garcia. She has become a recognizable personality in Spain and has even made a couple of appearances in American TV shows such as Homeland and The Mindy Project.

In "Bunker" the actress appeared before us in the image of the waitress Fabiana, who became Adrian's girlfriend after the disappearance of Belen. Fabiana was so carried away by her relationship that, without a shadow of a doubt, she moved to live with a new acquaintance, ignoring the talk about the missing Belen. However, the atmosphere of the old mansion gradually began to frighten the girl: Adrian's dog constantly growled, as if sensing someone behind the wall, from time to time the lights went out in the house, and in the bathroom there were circles on the water, as if catching vibrations from nowhere.

At some point, Fabiana began to feel someone's presence and communicate with a stranger, intercepting conventional signs. When the girl realized that it was Belen asking her for help, she decided not to let the prisoner out. After some time, remorse forced Adrian's mistress to enter the bunker. After receiving a deafening blow to the head, she woke up in darkness, locked in the room where Belen used to live. And it's impossible to predict what happened to Martina Garcia's character after that, as the story ends.

Film "Bunker": supporting actors

There are not so many actors in the picture of Andres Bays.

The key person among the characters of the second plan, of course, was Emma, the owner of the ill-fated mansion. Her husband in the Second Yearsworld war was an SS officer. It was he who built a secret bunker within the walls of his own house, so that in the event of Hitler's defeat he would have a shelter. The role of Emma was played by Canadian actress Alexandra Stewart, also known for the TV series Highlander and the film American Night.

The role of the violinist Veronica, an affair with which forced Adriana Belen's girlfriend to initiate a breakup, went to Colombian actress Marcela Gardeazabal. The performer is mainly known for the Colombian series such as "El Chapo", "Ex-Patriot" and "Brotherhood".

Also, among the heroes of the film, it is worth highlighting the image of the policeman Ramirez, embodied on the screens by the Venezuelan actor Juan Alfonso Baptista. According to the plot, Ramirez is a close friend of Fabiana who is investigating the disappearance of Belen. At the end of the picture, having failed to prove Adrian's involvement in the murder of Belen, he brings Fabiana pictures that prove that the musician continues to have affairs on the side. It was after this event that Fabiana repents of her deed and goes to the bunker to release Belen.

Juan Alfonso Baptista can also be seen in Celia, Perfect Deception and Dark Angel.
