The American television series House M. D. aired for 8 seasons. During this time, Gregory House changed a lot of assistants, but the most attractive of them was Robert Chase, played by Jesse Spencer.

This character is believed to have been born around 1980 in Australia.

His father Rowan Chase was a rather well-known physician of Czech origin.

When Robert was still small, dad left the family, and the guy's mother drank himself with grief. Growing up, Robert Chase could not forgive this father for a long time.

Despite disagreements with his parent, Robert followed in his father's footsteps and became a doctor. He received his education at the University of Sydney, choosing the speci alty of resuscitation, which is quite popular in Australia.

The young man got into House's diagnostic team thanks to his father's patronage. Many fans believe that the motive that prompted Gregory House to grant Rowan Chase's request was the diagnostician's desire to observe the offspring of a medical luminary and annoy him if possible.

At first, Chase was the weakest medic on the team. But gradually he worked on himself and soon turned into an excellent doctor.

When Dr. House had a conflict with the clinic's main investor in Season 1, Robert Chase betrayed him to keep his job. Gregory forgave the subordinate, and when he became the unwitting culprit in the death of the patient, he defended him and was even temporarily removed from the leadership of the department.

In the next two seasons, the details of the biography of this hero were gradually revealed. It turned out that Chase had previously studied at a Catholic seminary, but after that he became disillusioned and left. Also, despite his father's betrayal, Chase loved him and took his death from cancer hard.

In episode 7 of season 2, Robert slept with colleague Allison Cameron. And although at that time both considered this night a mistake, later it became the beginning of a serious romance.

In season 3, on Valentine's Day, Cameron suggested that Chase start a non-committal relationship based on sex. He agreed, and for a long time they had a great time together. At the end of Season 3, when Dr. Foreman decided to quit, House fired Chase in frustration. The current situation forced Cameron to reconsider her attitude towards her colleague, and, realizing that she loved Robert, Allison left Princeton-Plainsboro with him.

However, at the beginning of season 4, the lovers returned to the hospital, but now they worked in other departments. So, Robert Chase became a surgeon, and one of the best in Princeton-Plainsboro.

The relationship betweenlovers gradually developed, and at the end of season 5 they got married.

Unfortunately, Chase and Cameron's marriage did not last long. After House returned from the hospital and began to practice again, Robert, against the advice of his wife, wanted to return to his team. The reason was the murder committed by Dr. Chase.

The fact is that earlier the dictator of an African republic was admitted to the hospital. Realizing that this man was already responsible for the deaths of thousands of innocent people and was not going to stop, Robert Chase falsified the results of his tests. Because of this, the wrong treatment was prescribed, and the patient died. Foreman and House, having learned about this, helped their colleague hide their guilt, but the hero was very upset by what he had done.

Tormented by remorse, Chase began to drink heavily, and his wife suspected him of treason. He later confessed to her about the murder. Cameron tried to force him to resign from Princeton-Plainsboro and leave. However, Robert realized that although they love each other, Allison does not understand him. So he resisted and Cameron filed for divorce.

Further destiny

After getting divorced and returning to the House department, Dr. Robert Chase set to work with renewed vigor. In parallel, he began to have fleeting romances, which is why in one of the episodes he became a victim of a prank.

In season 8, Chase almost died due to a scalpel wound to the heart. Later, he decided to leave Princeton-Plainsboro to open his own diagnostic department in anotherlocation.

After House's false death, Chase returned to the clinic and took charge of its diagnostic department.

• The character was originally supposed to be American, then British. The decision to turn Chase into an Australian arose because of the nationality of the performer of this role - Jesse Spencer.
• Chase is allergic to strawberries, which almost caused House to hallucinate him.
• During his relationship with Cameron, Chase was periodically jealous of her for House, knowing that she had previously been in love with him.
• When House, to get revenge on Cuddy, married an immigrant from Ukraine, it was Chase who performed the marriage ceremony.
• Cameron and Chase actors Jennifer Morrison and Jesse Spencer met for almost a year and were going to get married, however, like their heroes, they broke up.

For all 8 seasons, it is Robert Chase who can be considered the champion in making stupid diagnoses. At the same time, it was he who most of all turned out to be right in his assumptions. Perhaps that is why the writers of the project made this character the successor of Gregory House at the end of the series.
