The Bleach anime series is an adaptation of the famous manga. Its name is known to every fan of Japanese culture, even if the latter have never opened a single volume of a work in their lives. Amazing and interesting plot, unusual and unique characters. Each page of the work captivates. The commander-in-chief of the Gotei-13, Yamamoto Shigekuni Genryusai, deserves special attention. The charisma, wisdom and strength of the character set him apart from the rest, make him respect, admire. Not every hero of the Bleach manga can boast of this. Appearance

Yamamoto Genryusai is the oldest captain in Soul Society. His eyes are painted black, gray eyebrows and beard are unusually long. At first glance, Yamamomoto is just a frail old man, but under the layers of clothes, the commander-in-chief hides a muscular body. However, it can only be seen in heavy battles, and even then not always.

Character

As the commander-in-chief of the Gotei 13, Yamamoto Genryusai commands a high degree of respect from his subordinates. The old man himself strictly adheres to the rules established in Soul Society, therefore he has every right to demand the same from other Shinigami. Disobedience to those who are higher in rank is unacceptable for him, so Yamamoto can often be heard raising his voice to unscrupulous employees. If the Commander-in-Chief feels that one of the Soul Society members may be involved in treachery, he will immediately fly into a rage, adhering to an aggressive style in battle.

However, in times of peace, one can observe a different side of the old man's character. Yamamoto is so adept at immersing himself in an aura of phlegm and calm that he can afford to fall asleep while waiting for the captains to attend a scheduled meeting. The years had taught the old man to hide his disappointment, not to show surprise. As a rule, when answering any, even the most tricky questions, he opens only one eye, less often both, the rest of the time the commander-in-chief keeps them half-covered.

Biography

Many works contain chapters dedicated to the history of key characters. Bleach was no exception. Season 1 bypassed the commander-in-chief, but in the future the author did not forget this character. Approximately 2100 years before the events of the manga, Yamamoto Genryusai ran a martial arts school, where he taught all the worthy the art of swordsmanship and reiatsu. Back then, Soul Society didn't have an organization like the Gotei 13, but after 1000 years, the old man founded it, taking the place of the commander-in-chief.

Powers and abilities

Yamamoto Genryusai is not without reason considered one of the strongest characters in the work. He has the ability to fight two shinigami who have reached the level of captain, while talking and holding a sword in just one hand. Astounding skills in swordsmanship leave no chance for opponents, Yamamoto Genryusai is able to finish the fight with one powerful blow.

Besides that, the old man is a master of fast pace. His movement speed reaches such a magnitude that even an experienced fighter often loses sight of him. The long centuries of existence as a teacher, a good warrior, and later commander-in-chief of a powerful and well-organized military organization required great analytical skills from Yamamoto. Knowledge of tactics and a developed mind helped the old man win with minimal losses.

The commander-in-chief's spiritual strength is also extremely high as expected. Even a captain-level opponent is not always able to stand firmly on his feet when Yamamoto releasesher. In all the history of Soul Society, no human has ever been born whose spiritual power can outshine Genryusai.

Spirit Sword

The Commander-in-Chief's weapon is called the "Ryujin Jakka" and is the oldest Zanpakutō in all of Soul Society. Its destructive fire power delights and terrifies. When the Shikai releases, the blade is engulfed in flames, the heat from which can turn anything it touches to ash. The air around Yamamoto warms up so much that it begins to resemble a real firestorm. When he enters the Bankai stage, the abilities of the Spirit Blade take on a different form. The flames created by the Shikai are returned to the sword, which, in turn, gains the ability to incinerate everything that its blade touches. Moisture around the character during the Bankai starts to gradually evaporate.

The death of an old man

Sooner or later, each character is visited by a guest in black clothes - death. Yamamoto Genryusai fought with dignity against the invader who invaded the Soul Society, and gave his life to protect his subordinates and the ideals of the Shinigami. This outcome was a real shock for both the heroes of the manga and for fans of the work of Taito Kubo, the author of the work. Heroes are worthy of admiration. The old man was buried the way a commander-in-chief should be, and his exploits are never forgotten.
