In 1997-1998 he was a teacher at the Belgorod Orthodox Theological Seminary and Gymnasium. In 1998, he completed his studies at the Faculty of History of the local university, choosing the speci alty "archaeology". For some time he worked as a history teacher at a school. In 1998, he was accepted as a referent in the Belgorod diocesan administration. In 1999, he became Archbishop John's personal secretary.
