History
The Drama Theater (Samara), the photo of the building of which is presented in this article, has existed since 1851. It was then that a permanent professional troupe appeared in the city. In 1888 a new stone building was built for it. The theater is still located in it. This is a beautiful Russian-style building, reminiscent of a tower or even a palace. It was built according to the project of the architect M. Chichagov.
The Drama Theater (Samara) was the first in the country to put on its stage performances based on the works of Maxim Gorky. It was named completely state and stationary in 1926. During the Second World War, the repertoire mainly consisted of productions on military topics. The troupe went out with concerts in support of the defenders of the Motherland and home front workers. In the 1950s, the Drama Theater (Samara) went on tour to Moscow, where its performances were a great success. In 1977 he received the title of academician. In the 90s, such famous directors as D. Kaplan andDmitry Astrakhan. Today, Samara drama takes an active part in festivals and competitions, as well as actors go on tour in Russia and abroad. On the basis of the theater, a course of students was recruited for the St. Petersburg Academy of Theater Arts. In November 2011, the theater celebrated its 160th anniversary. In honor of this event, a jubilee evening was held under the name "The same age as the province."
