The puppet theater at Baumanskaya is considered one of the oldest in the capital. It has existed since the first third of the 20th century. Today, his repertoire consists mainly of fairy tales known and popular for many years.
History
The puppet theater at Baumanskaya opened its doors in 1929. The basis of its director and playwright Viktor Shvemberger. The first troupe consisted of three actors: his wife N. Sazonova and friends - S. Zadonina, I. Zaitsev.
The theater was actively touring. The group has grown. During the war years, the theater performed in hospitals and on the front lines. A front-line brigade was formed, which died in September 1941. In 1942, Yevgeny Sergeevich Demmeni temporarily became the head of the theater. At that time he led a troupe evacuated from besieged Leningrad. Thus, the Moscow puppeteers connected with the Leningrad Puppet Theater (which exists in St. Petersburg to this day). Soon the troupe received its first premises.
In 1953, the theater was headed by the actor and director Viktor Alekseevich Gromov. He brought up a whole galaxy of unique puppeteers.
In 1962, the maindirected by Boris Isaakovich Ablynin. It was he who synthesized the puppet and dramatic genres. In 1964, an acting studio was opened at the theater. The repertoire of that time included performances based on the best works of children's literature.
In 1965, the troupe moved to a new building, where they "live" to this day.
In 1980, the theater received the Order of the Badge of Honor.
In the 80s of the 20th century, the troupe was headed by director and teacher Sergei Aleksandrovich Mironov. In 1986 he was replaced by Leonid Abramovich Khait. At that time, the repertoire was replenished with unique performances. There were musical performances. The artists began to actively tour in Russia and abroad.
In 1991, Vyacheslav Sergeevich Kryuchkov became the artistic director of the theater.
In 2014 he headed the troupe of B. M. Kirkin. Previously, he was the director of the GATsTK them. S. V. Obraztsova. Now the theater has three stages: large, small and children's.

School
The puppet theater at Baumanskaya organized a school for young puppeteers for children. Classes are held on Saturdays. In the younger group, children from 4 to 6 years old are engaged. The senior group - from 7 to 13. The school is called "The Theater of Miracles". The younger group learns to draw, make up stories and act them out, they get acquainted with the simplest dolls. The senior group is already the real young artists, playwrights, directors and composers. They draw sketches, make scenery and puppets, write scripts. They learn to work with more complex types of dolls. "TheatreMiracles" helps children to discover their abilities, develop fantasy and imagination, learn to communicate with the team. - "Great Tales of the World". This exhibition is only open during the summer. In the foyer of the theater there are author's puppets. - In November 2015, the exhibition "Magical Tanuki Animal" was opened. This is a popular hero of folk tales in Japan. He is kind, sweet and loves to joke. The exhibition features a Tanuki doll. On the tour, you can listen to stories about him, see a Japanese cartoon about him, get acquainted with how this animal was portrayed in past centuries. - Another exhibition of author's dolls is called "Japan: Dolls and Legends". Here you can see heroes from different fairy tales and legends of the Land of the Rising Sun, created byhands of Russian artists. As well as historical figures.
