1931 - the beginning of the construction of puppet theaters. In 1934, after the opening (1931) of the S. V. Obraztsov Theater (Moscow), a puppet theater was opened in Kazan on the basis of an ordinary amateur group at the House of Pioneers under the direction of S. M. Merzlyakov.

The basis of the repertoire of the newly created theater was the play "Petrushka the Homeless Child". Soon, the repertoire of this progressive team of energetic, loving young people was replenished with wonderful performances: "The Montgolfier Brothers", "Gosling", "Kashtanka" and many others. The first nationalstaging - fairy tale "Goat and Sheep" (G. Tukay).

In 1937, this puppet theater won the honorary prize at the All-Union Review of Puppet Theaters of the USSR. Kazan has chosen the right path in the cultural education of children.

In 1939, the young promising actor Salah Husni began to head the theater.

In difficult wartime, the situation was aggravated by the fact that the male part of the troupe decreased due to mobilization to the front. Almost all the days of the war, the troupe toured assembly points, performed for evacuated children, traveled around the districts to maintain the morale of people.

Post-war, new victories

Everything was - and the disorder with the room, and tightness. The director of the theater of that time, A. P. Yurusov, nevertheless achieved the premises, and in 1959 a new page was opened in the life of the theater. On this day, the artists showed the audience "Pinocchio".

In the 60s, the main director of the theater was I. Moskalev, who began to pay more attention to plays for adults: "The Bold Tale" (about Malchish-Kibalchish), "The Blind Padishah", "The Divine Comedy", etc. The main audience - children - got less.

And so, in 1968, The Little Prince appeared. He changed the idea of dramaturgy for children. It became possible to present children's plays with philosophical content.
