In the city of Perm on Sibirskaya street there is a puppet theater. It was founded back in 1937, when a troupe was organized by the regional committee for the arts at the Perm Philharmonic.
History of Creation
The Puppet Theater in Perm at first was a very small troupe. The first fairy tale that was staged in it was “By the Pike’s Command”. The artists were forced to lead a nomadic lifestyle, they had to constantly be on tour, moving from place to place on trucks, steamboats and horses, since the theater did not have its own building. However, the troupe continued to work even during the war years.
In 1959, a room was finally allocated - a historic building erected by architect N. Rukavishnikov. Now it is already a permanent repertory theater with its own building, which has two halls - a large one and a small one, where performances are staged based on high-quality literary material for children and adults.
From 1960 to 1982 Viktor Davidovich Ofrihter was the chief director of the puppet theater. He was an extremely passionate person and managed to bringperformance of the troupe at the highest level. A memorial plaque was unveiled in his honor in 2010. During the years of Ofrichter's service, the theater very often took part in festivals (in Poland, Hungary, the Czech Republic) and received diplomas.
From 1983 to 1987, the chief director of the theater was I. V. Ignatiev, who is now an Honored Art Worker of the Russian Federation and artistic director of the Skazka Theater in St. Petersburg. He brought bright and imaginative solutions to the productions, modernized them. Under the leadership of Ignatiev, the troupe went on tour in many countries of the world, up to America and Japan. Some performances of the director remain in the repertoire to this day.
From 1995 to 2013, I. N. Ternavsky was the director, who gave the theater an additional impetus to development. Under him, a large number of interesting productions were created, thanks to which a large number of new viewers were attracted. A talented director and actor, he was able to discover new possibilities in puppet theater.
In the 21st century, new significant productions appeared in the repertoire, which were awarded prizes and awards, as well as diplomas and prizes at festivals and competitions.
Friendship with S. V. Obraztsov
The Puppet Theater (Perm) has acquired some technical means for its performances thanks to Sergei Vladimirovich Obraztsov. He assisted in the construction and equipment of the stage in the building when it was first allocated to the troupe. Initially, the premises were completely unsuitable for a theater, because once a prison was located in it. As long as yourthere was no workshop in the Perm institution, all the characters were made in the workshops of the State Academic Central Puppet Theater in Moscow, which was directed by Sergei Obraztsov. The first production, shown already in its own premises, was the comedy performance for adults "Devil's Mill". The characters for her were also made in the SACC.
The puppet theater in Perm had a very positive impact on the fact that directors and artists were trained at the theater of Sergei Vladimirovich Obraztsov.
