Several years ago, renovations began in one of the buildings on Strastnoy Boulevard. This house was not simple and belonged to the Union of Theater Workers, or rather STD RF. During the renovation, a semi-basement was discovered, which was so spacious that the idea arose to create a new theater project with the participation of young talents. Graduates of theater and directing schools have the opportunity to create spectacles that are different from the classics and bring their brilliant ideas to life in an unusual and not theater-like space.
"Boyars' Chambers" on Strastnoy Boulevard
This is how the youth project START UP appeared on Strastnoy Boulevard. This is the address of the Boyar Chambers. The building is located near the metro station "Chekhovskaya". There is no stage familiar to the viewer, the action of performances and ideas of young talents unfolds in the same space where the audience is located. And yet it is theatre. Despite the unusual new space given to the youngtalents, they strive to think and create outside the box, going beyond the usual.
"Boyar's Chambers" occupy a significant area. There are arches and a vaulted ceiling where even a whisper echoes, old red brick masonry. Arriving at this unusual place, the viewer is immersed in the atmosphere of the performance and, as events unfold, move from one space to another along with the artists.
Youth Council STD RF and project implementation
Alexander Kalyagin, as chairman of the STD RF, believes that young people need qualified help to realize their talent. For this, STD RF organizes many projects, laboratories, master classes aimed at supporting the aspirations of artists. The mission of the "Boyar Chambers" (STD RF in Moscow) is to combine many programs that are created specifically for talented people and are focused on various theatrical professions.
The Youth Council was created under the STD RF, which develops and coordinates a platform for fruitful communication and assistance to each other, initiates the creation of new projects.
Theatrical vocational school
In June 2016, as part of the implementation of a grant under the patronage of the President of the Russian Federation, the first all-Russian project "Theatrical Vocational School" was implemented. It was created specifically for those who already have a speci alty, but would like to receive additional education and improve their skills. The project participants appreciated the importance of suchtraining, and the STD RF decided to conduct such a program on a regular basis. Participants will receive the necessary knowledge of scenography, light, sound, multimedia technologies.
Program "Location"
The Boyar's Chambers Theater in Moscow holds many interesting performances staged by young directors as part of the "Location of Action" program. Classics are often shown here. For example, Dostoevsky's novel "Crime and Punishment" is embodied in different interpretations.
A certain budget has been allocated for the implementation of the new program, and each participant must develop a sketch of the future performance within just ten days. The program has a competitive basis, and only five out of forty creative groups will be able to create laboratory performances. The application must contain a sketch of the performance, which will then be staged at the Boyar Chambers, and the best creations will have the opportunity to be rented throughout the year.
Project "Through action" in the "Boyar Chambers"
But the theater is famous not only for performances. Creative evenings, exhibitions of young artists, master classes, concerts are held here. Famous directors Adolf Shapiro and Vladimir Mirzoev are frequent guests at creative evenings. Such collections with analysis of classical works help to analyze and think. For Adolf Shapiro, this is an act of directing creativity, and the audience of the "Boyar Chambers" has a rare opportunity to observe the mastery of the artist. VladimirMirzoev, one of the heroes of the "Through Action" project, offers to analyze the brilliant phenomenon of the theater of the 20th century - Pinter's dramaturgy.
Festival-forum "Art Migration 2016"
"Boyar Chambers" in Moscow give young talents unlimited opportunities to realize their plans. Another project that stimulates creative resources and the ability to reincarnate young performers is the All-Russian Forum-Festival "Art Migration", which is held by the Union of Artists of the Russian Federation.
This forum is held especially for graduate directors who were able to put on interesting performances outside of Moscow and St. Petersburg. The purpose of the festival is to support their creative activity. The project also has a competitive basis; out of the many applications, no more than ten groups will be able to participate in the festival. The festival also has a special program, on the basis of which lectures, projects, excursions, presentations are held by eminent directors and theater critics.
Creative internship for young talents
"Creative Internship" is another new project of the "Boyar Chambers" (STD) for young directors and artists, whose age does not exceed 35 years, and they have not only a specialized education, but also a desire to develop further in their profession.
Young people will take this internship in Moscow theaters, and leading theater directors will become leaders in order to develop cultural ties and creative mobility. In thatInterns will participate in the project free of charge, while non-residents will be paid a stipend and paid for hotel accommodation. In 2017, you can take a theatrical internship with Kirill Serebrennikov, Robert Sturua, Boris Konstantinov. For theater artists, the Union of Theater Workers will prepare a separate program of creative internships.
