Many people know such a writer as Kir Bulychev and his stories about Alisa Selezneva, a girl living in Moscow at the end of this century. Based on the works about the "girl from the future", several cartoons were created.
On February 12, 2009, the premiere of the cartoon "Alice's Birthday" took place, the script of which was based on Bulychev's story of the same name. According to the story, Alisa Selezneva goes on an expedition to the planet Coleida.
One of the writers of the cartoon was science fiction writer Andrey Salomatov. His authored children's books are popular with readers.
Biography. Early years
The future writer, whose full name is Andrei Vasilyevich Salomatov, was born on March 1, 1953 in Russia, Moscow.
From childhood Andrei Salomatov was fond of literature, loved to read adventure novels. Like all children, he often imagined himself as the heroes of his favorite books, dreaming, like them, of going on some exciting journey.
After graduating from school, Andrei Salomatov entered the Moscow Geological Prospecting Institute (currentlytime - the Russian State Geological Prospecting Institute), but did not finish his studies before graduation. After some time, he began studying at the Moscow Art School in memory of 1905 at the faculty of easel painting, this time he managed to get a diploma of higher education.
Andrey Salomatov did not immediately become a writer. During his life, he changed many different occupations, having managed to work at a logging site, in a theater and several publishing houses.
Writing career
Andrey Salomatov's debut in the literary field took place in the early 1980s, when he was about 30 years old. The first published work was a story called "Catch, fish, big and small", printed in one of the Soviet magazines. The story did not contain any fantastic elements, and Salomatov was only to become famous as a science fiction writer.
The first of Andrey Salomatov's books was published in 1994. The story "Our extraordinary Gosh" was positioned as a work for children.
In the mid-1990s, fantasy stories were discovered. Andrey Salomatov created them in a completely different style: "Feast of Conception", "Cocaine Garden", "Golemiad". It is not surprising that readers learned about these works so late (and they were written back in the 80s), because in Soviet times they would simply not have been allowed to be published due to censorship.
Special attention deserves the story "A Girl in White with a Huge Dog", written in the horror genre with elements of black humor.
The art of Andrey Salomatov. Books for children
The first published book by Salomatov, "Our Extraordinary Gosha", tells the story of a funny domestic robot named Gosha, who constantly gets into various stories.
The main characters of the story "Cicero - a thunderstorm of Timiuk" - a boy Alyosha and his best friend, a robot named Cicero. One day, Alyosha is kidnapped by the inhabitants of the distant planet Timiuk. Cicero does everything to free his friend from alien captivity.
This book is the first part of a cycle dedicated to the adventures of Alyosha and Cicero. After some time, a sequel came out - the story "Gods of the Green Planet". Heroes already familiar to young readers set off on a journey to the planet Fedul, which is still inhabited by dinosaurs.
One of the next books in the series is Crazy Village. This time, Alyosha and his robot friend find themselves not on an unknown planet, but in the Moscow region. They are accompanied by natives from the planet Timiuk.
Works for adult readers
One of the most famous works of the writer is the story "The Kandinsky Syndrome", for which Salomatov was awarded the Znamya magazine award.
The protagonist of the "Kandinsky Syndrome" - Anton. His wife left him and left for Gagra, where Anton went after her. Here he becomes a participant in various adventures and finds himself in the center of mystical events. For example, one day he accidentally meets an old woman who takes Anton for her long timedead husband - allegedly on that day he was supposed to return to her in a new guise. This happens too often to be just a coincidence. However, in reality, everything turns out to be much simpler…
Salomatov's surreal story "A Girl in White with a Huge Dog" tells how two friends - Zuev and Shuvalov - decided to go on a drinking binge. The work covers a 5-day period and describes all the hallucinations, crazy ideas and decisions, adventures that happen to Zuev and Shuvalov during their spree.

Most reviews of Andrei Salomatov's stories, especially his works for children, are positive. Readers note a fascinating plot, colorful characters, unobtrusive humor - all this will surely appeal to young readers.
Salomatov's books, aimed at a more adult audience, are also appreciated. The light manner of narration in the writer's works is combined with philosophical reasoning, striking in its depth. Many of Salomatov's stories are written in the genre of everyday surrealism - the writer is trying to show how paradoxical and absurd often seemingly familiar things and phenomena are.
Writer Awards and Prizes
Andrey Salomatov is the winner of about a dozen different literary awards and prizes. In 2009, he was awarded the Efremov Literary Prize for fantastic works for children.
The writer was twice awarded the "Wanderer" award - in 1999 and 2000year. Salomatov also won the Noon, Bronze Snail, RosCon, Marble Faun awards. He has been nominated for over 30 awards in total.
