Poet Boris Khersonsky was born into a family of doctors. The grandfather of our hero, Robert Aronovich, is one of the founders of child psychoneurology in Odessa. In the post-revolutionary years, this man, using the pseudonym Ro, published two books with satirical poems "Beep" and "All Odessa in epigrams." The father of our hero, Grigory Robertovich, in turn, released a collection of poems "Students". The mother's family lived in Bessarabia before the war. Later she moved to Chernivtsi. Our hero's father studied there when he returned from the front and became a student at the local medical institute.

In 1970-1980, our hero became one of the brightest figures representing unofficial poetry in Odessa. He was a member of the social movement samizdat. At the same time, he acted not only as an author, but also as a distributor of other illegal literature. His poems were distributed in the usual way for that time - in typewritten copies. In the early nineties, books began to be published, unofficially, but without prohibitions. The appearance of works in the emigrant Russian-language press occurred in the second half of the eighties. The first book that was legally published was published in 1993 and is called The Eighth Share. Then there were “Out of the fence”, “Family archive”, Post Printum, “There and then”, “Scroll”,“Draw a little man”, “Verbs of the past tense”. Also, our hero published transcriptions of biblical texts, collecting them in the “Book of Praises” and a collection called “Poetry at the turn of the two Testaments. Psalms and Odes of Solomon. The author was published on the pages of the magazines Homo Legends, October, Novy Mir, Khreshchatyk, Znamya, Arion.

It can be considered that the most significant work of our hero is the "Family Archive". In this book, from biographical poems-essays, as a result, a canvas of life is formed, as well as the disappearance of Jews in the southern part of Ukraine in the twentieth century. Samizdat book appeared in 1995 in Odessa. By 2006, "Family Archive" - the first collection of our hero, was published in Russia. This work was published by the publishing house "New Literary Review", including it in the series "Poetry of the Russian Diaspora".

"Building site" - the second full-fledged book of our hero. It was also published by the above-mentioned publishing house in 2008. “Outside the fence” is a collection of essays and poems that appeared in 2008. It was published by the Nauka publishing house in the Russian Gulliver series. In 2009, a book en titled "Marble Sheet" was published. It includes poems that were written in the fall of 2008 in Italy. Soon the book "Spirituals" appeared. In 2010, the UFO publishing house published the work “Until it got dark”, the foreword to it was written by Irina Rodnyanskaya. In 2012, the book "Still Someone" was published.
