Any connoisseur of rock music in Russia will tell you what the abbreviation "Kish" means. So often the name of one of the successful teams on the domestic stage is shortened. The group "Korol i Shut" has become a landmark phenomenon from its very first album.

Start

In the late 1980s, members of the future famous band began their musical activities in Leningrad. Andrei Knyazev was fond of writing fairy tales and putting music on these stories. His friend Mikhail Gorshenev brought the compositions to perfection and also added his own material.

At first, the band played punk rock, designed to perform in clubs. The first demo-recording of "The King and the Jester" appeared in 1994 and brought the musicians popularity among the informal youth of St. Petersburg.

The beginning of this recognition was getting on local television. The group "Korol i Shut" recorded several videos for songs from the first album "Stone on the Head". It was released in 1996, and some of the songs got into radio rotation. An interesting and original concept attracted listeners who had not yet encountered such an entourage.

These were miniature scary tales based onwhich lay the rhythm of punk rock songs. Gorshenev and Knyazev were vocalists and often performed parallel roles in a dialogue format. Most often, the songs had an opening and denouement, which did not prevent them from maintaining a short duration.

Success

The phenomenon became famous throughout the country largely due to the rotation on Nashe Radio, where in the late 90s such songs as “I'll jump off a cliff”, “The Sorcerer's Doll”, etc.

The "Korol i Shut" group shot its first full-fledged clip in 1999. The song "The men ate meat" served as the material. The video was often played on the Russian channel MTV, thanks to which even people far from music learned about the band.

The songs of the group "Korol i Shut" were hits at music festivals, where the participants staged whole costumed shows. Performances at "Invasion" and "Wings" became regular annual events, where tens of thousands of rock fans flocked.

In 2001 the group "Korol i Shut" released its most successful album "Like in an old fairy tale". By this time, the band's music had changed somewhat. A violinist appeared in the line-up, and the songs got a little bit of folk. Bright arrangements and signature motifs became the key to the success of the record. It was presented at Luzhniki, where after that KiSh held sold-out concerts a few more times.

In 2002, the album "It's a pity there is no gun!" Is released, which records "Korol i Shut". The line-up of the group offers the audience such hits as "Dead Anarchist" and "Bear". Thesesongs will become permanent numbers in the band's programs. At the same time, Gorshenev and company traveled outside the CIS for the first time. The most cordial welcome awaits them in America and Israel.

Continuing career

When violinist Maria Nefedova leaves the band, the remaining members record their heaviest album, gravitating towards hardcore. This is "Riot on the ship". He is also successful, but after his release, the group takes a break. Members record solo albums. "Pot" releases a tribute to "Brigade in a row". His variations of the songs of the famous punk rock band sound there.

In the future, the group continued to successfully release albums in their usual style. In 2011, Andrey Knyazev left the team, starting a solo career. Mikhail Gorshenev continued to perform under the same name. He managed to realize his own dream - he staged an opera as part of the group's concert program.

It was a duology called TODD. Its plot was based on the story of serial killer Sweeney Todd. Her last act in the studio version was released in 2012. Then there were numerous concerts. The audience accepted the novelty with a bang.

Death of Gorshenev

In July 2013, the festival season was in full swing, when "Kish" traditionally gave many concerts. Several announcements have already been made, but on the 19th, the lead singer of the Korol i Shut group, Mikhail Gorshenev, the frontman and leader of the team, was found dead inown home.

The event shocked absolutely everyone, since the man had no special he alth problems. An autopsy revealed that the cause of death was a drug overdose, which led to heart failure.

The existence of the group without Gorshenev would be extremely strange, so the participants announced the dissolution of the "King and the Jester". Some of them created a new project "Northern Fleet" - by the name of one of Mikhail's songs. At the same time, Knyazev continues his solo career.
