Rolan Bykov, or rather Roland, was born in Kyiv in the distant difficult year of 1929. Roland absorbed natural softness and artistry with his mother's milk, because she was an intelligent woman who was well versed in art and wrote poetry, but he inherited explosive energy from his father, a former deserter, and then a commissar who served under Budyonny himself.

First steps

School years and the art circle revealed in Roland his creative string, even classmates gave him the nickname "Artist".
