On Manizer Street in Kharkov, in the shade of firs and lindens, a residential building lurks, notable for the fact that the first floor of it is occupied by the Actor's House. This is one of the few urban theater centers that has reached the European level. More than 15 non-state acting studios and groups work on its stage. Some are just starting their creative career, others have long been known to the theatrical public, such as the New Stage, Amadeus, Nika, Theater 19, and the New Theatre.
Actor's House, Kharkiv
It is located in a residential building built in 1929 of the last century. In the post-war years, it housed a puppet theater. Since 1968, the house has been occupied by the Ukrainian Theater Society. After the reconstruction and addition of additional premises in 1972, the building was transferred to the use of the Actor's House. Since that time, evenings dedicated to the masters of the stage and young actors, meetings with the audience, creative meetings with theatrical groups touring in Kharkov, and performances have been held here.
In 2005 on the basis of the HouseActor, the Kharkov Theater Center (HTC) was created as a charitable foundation to unite the activities of non-state theaters, public organizations and commercial structures. Its main goal is to raise the culture in Kharkiv to a higher level.

As part of the action program of the founders during the year, the House of Actor in Kharkov was radically reconstructed: a large hall for 200 seats was rebuilt, dressing rooms and technical rooms were repaired and improved. The foyer has also been redesigned. Further plans include restoration of the main and courtyard facades.
In connection with the expansion of the HTC activities, a small stage with a transforming hall for 70 seats was built. This part of the performances has been moved here, for which the conditions of the small hall are necessary to create greater stage expressiveness. During the reconstruction of the premises, original planning solutions were used, which completely transformed the Actor's House.
Kharkiv is the only city in Ukraine that owns a free theater venue. It provides an opportunity for new acting studios to showcase their talent and enhances HTC touring activities.
Creative activity of the theater center
Extraordinary and bright productions gather full halls of spectators in the Actor's House. Kharkov Theater has the opportunity to see more than 60 performances per month on its two stages. Concerts, exhibitions, meetings are held here. Much attention is paid to holding festivals: internationalsmall forms "Theatronic" and the annual "Kurbalesia", which involves performances of non-state theaters. Support for young directors, stage designers, actors, organizing creative evenings, master classes, competitions and, of course, staging performances - all these are tirelessly taken care of by the Actor's House. Kharkov can be proud of its center. It is here, on the stage of the CTC, that the magical world of art always reigns and the theatrical heart of the cultural city beats.
