Good shorts: some of the best films of the genre

Paradoxically, short films are often underestimated by the general public. But in many of them there is much more meaning than in full-length films. Often a 10-minute film is able to touch the deepest strings of the viewer's soul more than a two-hour creation. What kind of works can be called good short films?

Signs (2010)

The film "Signs" should be regarded as a good short film just because the picture at one time became the winner of the prestigious Cannes Lions film festival. In 12 minutes, the authors managed to squeeze in typical aspects of the life of an average inhabitant of a modern metropolis. The protagonist suffers from everyday life and everyday routine. His every day goes according to the planned schedule: the way to work, the performance of official duties, communication with colleagues, returning home.

In onewonderful moment a man decides to change something. After writing the word "hello" on a regular sheet of paper, he shows the message through the window pane to a girl who works in the office across the street. What will the implementation of such a simple idea lead to? This is what the viewer will have to find out.

Margot Lily (2013)

The next good short on our list is Margot Lily. The story tells of an unfortunate couple who wish to honor the memory of a dead child by planting a tree in front of their house's porch. The painful situation, in which the spouses are trying to strengthen the seedling in the frozen ground, can make the viewer think about the meaning of everything.

Orange Drive (2011)

In our list I would like to mention not only serious, but also funny short films. Such is the film "Orange Drive", which allows you to live a whole year with an ordinary teenager in 10 minutes. All the action of the picture takes place in the guy's car. Despite such an original format, the viewer receives comprehensive information about important events in the life of the hero.

This good short film makes you smile in places, then empathize with the character, and at some point share romantic feelings with him. Whatever feelings the tape evokes in the soul of the viewer, it will definitely become great entertainment and will not make you yawn in front of the screen.

"Smile Man" (2013)

In our review, one cannot fail to note the good Russiansshort films. One of the best films in its class is the talented work of the young director Anton Lashakov called “The Smile Man”. The 10-minute tape tells the story of a man who is forced to experience daily discomfort due to facial paralysis. The short film invites the viewer to imagine what it is like to smile forever when you are scared, sad, or even have a desire to incinerate the whole world to ashes.

Now or Never (2012)

In the picture we see a weak-willed man who plans to end his life. However, he soon discovers new meanings. Everything changes one seemingly ordinary evening spent in the company of a cheerful and carefree niece named Sofia. The latter, wanting to know what is hidden in the uncle's soul, opens an alternative reality for him, in which there is a place for kindness, bright feelings and inspiration.

Runners (2013)

Surely each of us had to think about what people around us on the street, in public transport, feel and what they can think about. What worldview do they have? The authors of the film "Runners" became interested in similar questions after talking with residents of the metropolis who went for a regular run.

What do people focus on while playing sports? It is extremely curious to know the answer of the runners, who, at first glance, seem serious, focused and rather withdrawn.people. However, in reality, they are ready to open their souls to the first person they meet.
