The film has an excessive amount of scenes of violence. Due to the cruelty towards the girl, the American Motion Picture Association made an age limit that allows you to watch the picture only onreaching the age of 17. The film's tagline translates to: "In this town, killing has become a neighborhood game." An important fact is the erroneous name "The Girl Opposite", which is common in Russia. The mistake is not only in translation, there is also a plot oversight, because the main character did not live across the street, but lived in a neighboring house. A year after its release, The Girl Next Door (2007) won the Outstanding Achievement in Film Music festival.

Plot of the picture

At the center of the story is a guy named David Morgan. While fishing for crayfish, he meets a sixteen-year-old girl, Megan Chandler. She moved with her sister to her own aunt after the heroine's parents died. The Chandler family is not distinguished by exemplary behavior and high status, and Aunt Megan herself is by no means the best mother for her three sons. Rude, as the children call her, freely allows her sons to drink beer and discuss topics that are forbidden for children. At their age, boys can afford a lot of excess, feeling complete impunity. After a while, Morgan becomes aware of the true life of a new girlfriend, who is often beaten and humiliated by her brothers. Naturally, no one should say a word about what is happening. However, the heroine's patience is gradually coming to an end, and one day she goes to the police and reports on the events taking place in her family. Upon learning that her niece visited the sheriff, Rude decides to punish the naughty relative in the most sophisticated way. During the torture of a young girl, David watches what is happening through the window inbasement, trying to figure out how he can help his new girlfriend. However, he will not be able to resist the crowd of angry guys alone. The protagonist of the thriller about teenagers, Morgan, is well aware that Megan needs to be saved from an abnormal family. David decides to act immediately, because there is almost no time left.
