She was accused of killing Russian journalists, lawyers insisted on her innocence and the need to extradite her to Ukraine.

In August 2016, in an interview, the host and head of the TV project Boris Kryuk asked Novikov to leave the club "What? Where? When?". Ales Mukhin's team, in solidarity with the player, also refused to take part in further games.

Novikov is a popular connoisseur. He began his career in the TV club in 2002. During this time he played 44 games. According to this indicator, he is in the top ten connoisseurs, taking 9th place. Twice became the owner of a crystal owl: in 2004 and 2014. In 2014, he was also awarded the Diamond Owl as the best player of the year.
