Series plot

It all starts on an island when an ordinary teenager Zack is in the wrong place at the wrong time, as a result of which he falls under the influence of ancient magic and becomes a mermaid. Fortunately, Zack works as a lifeguard on the beach, so he swims perfectly even without a tail, so the new abilities do not scare the guy at all, but, on the contrary, open up hitherto unseen horizons! Full of optimism, he already imagines himself as a superhero who saves people almost every day.

However, not everything is so simple! For "Mysteries of Mako Island", a series of adventures and surprises, they made up a very dynamic plot. The mermaid community guards its secret with awe, and on that very day, threeyoung mermaids, Sirena, Nixie and Layla, just joked badly, as a result of which they were expelled from the pack. Mermaids have to turn into ordinary girls and go to land in search of Zack in order to deprive him of his magical powers. On land, the girls have a hard time because they can't walk, have no idea what money is and are scared to death of cats… However, over time, the biggest problem in their lives turns into an exciting adventure!

Lucy Fry as Lila

Perhaps, in any series there is a grumpy heroine who is always dissatisfied with something and considers herself smarter than everyone. In "Secrets of Mako Island" the actors were chosen quite friendly, and only Lucy Fry was ideally suited for this role. The actress is originally from Australia, was born on March 30, 1992 and is now 25 years old. Lucy's acting career began in the Vampire Academy project, where she played Vasilisa Dragomir.

Even as a child, the girl began to show interest in acting, during her school years she actively participated in theatrical productions, and was also engaged in the modeling business. Already at the age of 15, Lucy took 2nd place in the Australian Girlfriend competition and began working with the Chic Management modeling agency, in which, by the way, Phoebe Tonkin's modeling career began.

Despite the fact that "H2O" and "Secrets of Mako Island" have different plots and almost nothing to do with each other, Lucy managed to play a cameo role in the original series, and Phoebe Tonkin took part in one ofseasons of "Mysteries".

Ivy Latimer as Nixie

The girl was born in the USA on December 1, 1994 and now she is only 22. She moved with her family to Australia at the age of 6 and almost immediately began to get involved in acting. Already in 2007, Ivy began acting in TV series such as "Love As I Want" and "Me and My Monsters". In 2012, the young actress received an award at the Melbourne International Comedy Festival, after which she was invited to the Australian channel STUDIO3 as a presenter.

In addition to her acting career, Ivy enjoys sports: she enjoys running, rock climbing, skateboarding and even playing football. The girl is not deprived of her musical talent either - Ivy knows how to play the drums. Participation in the "Secrets of Mako Island" actors, unfortunately, did not glorify, but for Ivy this experience was a good start to a television career in Australia.

Amy Ruffle as Siren

This Australian actress was born on February 25, 1992 and is now 25 years old. The most famous role is the mermaid Siren in the series "Secrets of Mako Island", reviews about her acting work in the series are ambiguous, but most viewers still liked the brave and charming Siren.

Before the series, Amy only took part in musicals and theatrical productions, the most famous of which was called "Frontier Squad". This is a rather complex character who will have to face the harsh truth: he is a newt by blood and it is he who is destined to possess the legendary Trident. Having found out who Lila, Nixie and Sirena really are, he stops communicating with them, and in the middle of the 2nd season he completely cuts off all ties with his friends. He always wanted to become a superhero, but do not forget that great power gives rise to responsibility, and hence loneliness …

"H2O" and "Secrets of Mako Island"

All fans of the series know that "Secrets of Mako Island" in terms of actors and plot is very similar to the "H2O" project, released a few years earlier. Three mermaids who are friends with an ordinary guy face various troubles and dangers … The series are similar right down to the appearance of the main characters: 2 blondes and a brunette. In fact, this series is a spin-off of "H2O", made by popular demand from fans.

It is the series "H2O" that owes itsthe brilliant careers of Phoebe Tonkin and Claire Holt, who were then invited to the super-popular projects The Vampire Diaries and The Originals. From "Mysteries of Mako Island" the actors expected the same push into the global acting industry, but even after the 3rd season, a miracle did not happen, at least not yet…
