The main animated series was the manga of the same name in 32 volumes, published from 1998 to 2004. It was so popular that in addition to an anime adaptation, there were several video games, a collectible card game, and a variety of merchandise.

Since 2006, all episodes of Shaman King have been broadcast on Russian screens. The animated series has earned the unconditional love of the audience not only for its excellent drawing and interesting plot, but also thanks to its excellent voice actors.

Storyline

Every 500 years a shaman tournament is held to choose a king. He unites with the most powerful spirit and becomes able to control all life on earth.

The action of the first episode of the animated series "The Shaman King" begins with the appearance of the Star of Destiny. It sweeps across the evening sky, announcing the start of a new tournament. The protagonist Yo Asakura unites talented friends around him, and together they go on an adventure. They will have to go through many trials and learn a lot before defeating the main villain - Hao, who is trying to win for the third time, each time reborn stronger, more powerful and merciless.

This timeHao chose the Asakura family, so only Yo as his twin brother can defeat him, but for this he needs to unite with the spirit of the great ancient warrior Amidamaru.

In the animated series Shaman King, Nikita Prozorovsky became the actor who voiced the voice of Anidamaru, as well as Trey and Rio. A true professional in this field, he has as many as 989 paintings to his credit! The very first was The Wizard of Oz in 1939, where he voiced Uncle Charlie (of course, in Russia the picture came out much later, in the 2000s), and the last was Geostorm in 2017, in which he is responsible for the role of Richard Schiff. He has also starred in 40 films and TV series, such as "The Bodyguard 3", "Teacher in Law", "Homeless", "First Squad" and "The Other Face".

Yo Asakura

The most powerful shaman, but at the same time a simple and ingenuous guy. More than anything, he loves to eat and sleep, most of the jokes in the animated series are based precisely on these qualities. It is difficult to anger him, unless, of course, offending his friends. In Season 1 of The Shaman King, the ancient spirit Anidamaru becomes his guardian. At the same time, he meets his first best friends: the ordinary human Morty (in the original Japanese version, Manta), as well as the shamans Rio, Len and Horo (aka Trey Racer).

The voice of Yo in the Russian version was answered in the animated series "King of Shamans" by actor Sergei Bystritsky. He starred in 40 films and voiced more than 190 roles, for example, in 2017 - the character of Dean Winters in the film Very Bad Girls.

Morty Manta

Mortimer is an ordinary boy withoutabilities of a shaman, who believed in the existence of spirits and became Yo Asakura's first friend. Despite the fact that he is the weakest and smallest of all, Morty shows unprecedented fortitude, is infinitely loyal to his friends and is even ready to sacrifice his life for them.

The actor Alexander Komlev undertook the voice of this character in the animated series "King of Shamans". He began his career with small roles in "Yeralash", then there were "Bridge", "Frenchman", and in 2008 the TV series "Moscow Smiles", after which he finally went into dubbing. He has more than 230 different films, cartoons and series on his account.

Ryunosuke Umemiya

In the Russian translation, this character was simply called Rio, to make it easier for viewers, especially small ones, to remember him. In the first series, he appears as a villain, the leader of the Cornered gang, who tries to attack Yoh and is defeated. Seeing Anidamaru and the power that he gives, Rio decides to become a shaman at all costs and asks to be Yo's apprentice.

He becomes a true friend and completely changes his view of the world, he is no longer drawn to bad deeds. The funniest situations are related to his unsuccessful attempts to find a soul mate and make her his queen.

Faust and Eliza

A sad story about eternal love. For the first time, Faust appears as a cruel anti-hero, even the sight of which evokes horror: pale with blue circles under his eyes, he looks more like a spirit than a person. Faust is trying to destroy everything in his path to the title of Shaman King. All he can think about isthe rebirth of his beloved Eliza, who died very young from an unknown disease.

Yo's kindness and patience help Faust remember humanity and let go of his anger. Unfortunately, even by the end of the series, there is no hope for Eliza's revival.

Len Tao

Len Tao may well compete in the tragedy of fate with Faust and Eliza. His family is cruel and merciless, ready to destroy him if Len does not live up to expectations. He is being raised as the future Shaman King and is not allowed to think about anything else.

Like most other heroes, Len comes to Yo with evil intentions and darkness in his heart, but gradually changes and even confronts his family and his inner demons.

In the Japanese version of the anime, he has a full-fledged family: father, mother and sister, and in the American version there is no father, but there is an evil uncle, so huge that he cannot believe in the reality of his existence. At the end, when Len gets the better of him, Uncle turns into an ordinary lonely man, left alone with his hatred.

In Shaman King, Nikita Prozorovsky became the voice actor for this character.

Just stay in the shadows

Not so long ago, a video appeared on the Web about how the story of the Shaman King animated series would look like in reality. The dubbing actors are the same as in the original version: Alexander Komlev and Elena Chebaturkina.

In this video, Yo finds himself in ordinary Russian places: in the subway, in a dirty entrance, next to brokenmailboxes, he even drinks kefir in the kitchen. At this time, the actors sing that "the choice is not important" and "dullness is familiar to the eyes." At the end, they ask why they even sing it and stop to become "ordinary dudes".

Despite the unusual nature of this interpretation, the original video is much better, because you need to believe in miracles, regardless of age and living conditions. Shaman King teaches friendship, fidelity and kindness, and beautiful bright drawing helps to perceive all this better. This animated series must be shown to children.

This anime has two versions - American and Japanese. In the first, almost all the heroes do not have a last name and bloody scenes are cut out, as well as some names and replicas of the heroes are changed. Even some elements of the characters suffered from censorship, for example, a combat pistol was replaced with a child's toy.
