All events take place in a fictional world, where the seiyuu (actors) of the animated series "Tokyo Ghoul" voice their drawn characters. The world, which looks very similar to ours, has two significant differences. There are more than one intelligent creatures on the planet, and the highest link in the food chain is not a person at all. In this alternate reality, the planet is inhabited by predatory, human-like creatures - ghouls. Strong, fast and very tenacious monsters are able to digest only human flesh - and this is the basis of the whole story.

Short description

In the first season of the animated series "Tokyo Ghoul" the viewer gets acquainted with the main character. Kaneki Ken is an ordinary first-year student. The guy lives a measured and calm life, shows success in his studies and earns money in a cafe. Acquaintance with a beautiful and mysterious girl leads to an unexpected denouement. The new friend turns out to be a ghoul. The monster tries to eat Ken, but dies during the incident. A seriously injured guy ends up in a hospital where he receives an organ transplant to save his life. Later, the poor fellow learns that the transplanted organs belonged to one of the strongest ghouls, and his quiet life is coming to an end. The guy became a ghoul - one of those feared by the whole city. Serious changes in the body lead to a thirst to taste human flesh. Having become an outcast among people, the hero tries to join a new society for him.

In Season 2, Kaneki moves to Aogiri. This is a secret organization of ghouls, whose goal is to seize power on Earth. The CCG, the Anti-Ghoul Administration, is also getting in on the act. In an attempt to eliminate the instigators of the disaster, the CCG stumbles upon peaceful ghouls in the Anteiku cafe. Ken is faced with a choice: old friends or new allies.

In both seasons of the animated series Tokyo Ghoul, the actors voiced the same characters, it was they who largely determined the success of the anime.

Key characters

All characters in the anime are voiced by seiyuu. The actors of the animated series "Tokyo Ghoul" did a good job and gave voices to the cartoon characters.

Ken Kaneki is a Literature student turned half-ghoul after Ridze's organ transplant. Has a quiet and reserved character, trustful, loves books. Voiced by: Natsuki Hanae.

Toka Kirishima is a 16 year old ghoul schoolgirl. Works part-time at Anteiku. Well hides its essence from others. Helps Kaneki in the development of fighting qualities. In the form of a ghoul, she becomes ruthless and reckless. Lost family to CCG. Voiced by Tohka from the animated series "Tokyo Ghoul" actor (seiyuu) Sora Amamiya.

Rize Kamishiro is one of the most dangerous ghouls. A smart and cunning character who managed to integrate into human society and ward off suspicion from the CCG. It was her organs that served as the rebirth of the protagonist. Voiced by: Kana Hanazawa.

Nishiki Nishio is a sophomore ghoul studying at university with Kaneki. He is an excellent fighter and hates ghouls that invade his territory. Successfully hiding under the guise of a diligent and gifted student. Voiced by: Shintaro Asanuma.

Yoshimura - the head of Anteiku, part-time ghoul. Founded an organization that helps ghouls who refuse to kill. Voiced by: Takayuki Sugou.

Hideyoshi Nagachika is the best friend of the protagonist. The light and simple character of the guy allowed him to accept the changed Kaneki. Becomes a part-time trainee at CCG. Voiced by: ToshiyukiToyonaga.

Tokyo Ghoul Manga

In September 2011, Weekly Young Jump magazine showed off the brainchild of manga artist Ishida Sui. Shueisha was responsible for the publication of the work until its completion in September 2014

The 1st season of the anime almost completely recreates the story of the manga, but the 2nd season has its own alternative plot. Here are a few differences in the narrative:

Tokyo guru feature film directed by Kentaro Hagiwara was released on July 29, 2017. The role of Ken Kaneki went to Masataka Kubota, who previously played Yagami Light in Death Note.
