"Winx Club: Fairy School" is an animated series by Italian director Iginio Straffi, Raibow S. P. A. By 2017, seven seasons have already been filmed. Despite conflicting reviews, the animated series quickly became a cult hit and was released in more than one hundred and fifty countries and attracted nearly fifteen million daily viewers, in addition, more than twenty-two million copies of the DVD were sold.
Storyline
An ordinary earthly sixteen-year-old girl named Bloom finds out that she is a fairy and goes to study at the Alfea Magic Academy. There she finds true friends, love and enemies. The main anti-heroes of the first season - the three witches Trix from the Cloud Tower - are constantly trying to come up with a new way to seize power over the magical world of Magix, but each time they are defeated by fairies and teachers of three schools of magic.
In the original animated series"Winx Club: Fairy School" actors Karen Manuel, Leah Adams, Christina Rodriguez, Dani Schaffel voiced the roles of heroes.

Alfea's teachers help in the fight against evil, but the main characters, of course, in all seasons of the animated series "Winx Club: Fairy School" are fairies:

Each heroine of the animated series has special magical abilities:
- Tecna owns techno-magic, which connects the world of magic with the world of people.
- Stella is a fairy of the moon, sun and stars, she is a real connoisseur of romantic stories.
- The hot-tempered Layla controls the waves, sometimes using Morfix, a sticky pink substance.
- Muse with the help of sound waves is able to stun the enemy, her flute and huge speakers help her in this.
- The strongest of the fairies is Bloom, she is subject to fire dragon magic, but she can only be used when she is in a state of strong emotionalvoltage. Her arsenal of spells includes everything related to fire - volcanoes, red-hot lava and magma.
Negative Heroes
In all episodes of the animated series "Winx Club: Fairy School" Bloom and her friends have to fight a new enemy:
- in the first season it's the Trix witches;
- in the second - the embodiment of the dark Phoenix Drakar;
- in the third - V altor;
- in the fourth - the magicians of the Black Circle, who captured the earth fairies;
- fifth - Titannus, prince of the underwater world;
- in the sixth - the witch Selina, trying to summon otherworldly forces in the person of Acheron;
- in the seventh, Kalshara and Brafilius claiming the power of magical beasts.
History of creation and popularity
The idea of creating a cartoon about girls with magic came to the director back in 2000, when the release of the incredibly popular Sailor Moon anime was completed. In his brainchild, Iginio Straffi combined elements of their world with the world of Harry Potter. The Barbie doll and the faces of popular actors in the animated series Winx Club: Fairy School served as prototypes for creating fairies. Real fashion designers, including Dolce & Gabanna, had a hand in creating the outfits.
The first broadcast began on January 28, 2008 after a lengthy promotional campaign. The popularity rating was 16%, while the age of half of the audience was from 4 to 14 years. And already in April of the same year, the animated seriesaired in Europe, Thailand, USA and Indonesia in prime time at 21:30.
This project has been such a success that the creators have released dozens of theatrical and concert productions, several offshoots of the original story, including two spin-offs and three full-length cartoons. Of course, many different products with fairy symbols are sold all over the world - video games, backpacks, pencil cases, clothes, notebooks. Winx dolls occupy 40% of the entire market, second only to Barbie and Bratz. The characters have been used for promotions related to he alth, tourism and education.
In 2016, information appeared that work had begun on the creation of a real film with live actors based on the animated series Winx Club: Fairy School. Like the original story, it will be based on the principles of loy alty, friendship, love and kindness.
Among the printed stories of the Winx world are books, magazines and comics. They not only contain information about the magical world, but also tell stories that were not included in the animated series.
Criticism
The harshest criticism came from Russia, especially for the voice acting, the disproportionate bodies of the main characters and the plagiarism of Harry Potter and the Witches. The latter has no basis, since the Winx appeared a year earlier than the Enchantress, although the Russian audience saw them three years later. Actors Yana Belonovskaya, Ekaterina Semenova, Iva Solonitsyna and Denis Bespaly voiced roles for a Russian-speaking audience in the animated series Winx Club: Fairy School.
And in the USA they changed the script and music without missing the original version. ATthere was very little criticism in other countries.
Cosplay
Cosplay, a popular hobby all over the world, did not bypass the characters of the Winx Club. One of the most famous Russian versions is Una Fata and her image of the Tecna fairy. There are many detailed instructions on the Internet on how to make a fairy costume, but if you don’t have sewing skills, then you can easily buy a ready-made one or make it to order.
