"Karambol" - a theater located in St. Petersburg - in 2015 celebrated its 25th anniversary. The amazing combination of dramatic and musical art creates a special atmosphere of productions and brings brightness to each project.

Creating a theater

The Carom Theater opened in 1989 with a performance of Swineherd. The idea was inspired by Irina Brondz, who is currently the director and creative director, and Tatyana Kramorova. In 1996, the cultural institution received the status of the State. When the theater was opened, it meant only children's repertoire, but by 2014 there were productions for an adult audience. This was facilitated by the widespread need, the gratitude of the visitors and the need for production.

In the theater, this idea can be deciphered as a triple creation of drama, dance and music on one stage. "Karambol" is a theater that has become a real family for Irina Brondz. After graduating from the St. Petersburg Conservatory, she first worked at the Lenconcert. She was an author and performer. I have always worked with children and wrote music - songs in the dramatic genre, bright, characteristic.

Children's studio at the theater

The Karambol Theater is not the first to create a studio for children on its basis. But each institution has its own reasons. The idea of creating a studio at the musical theater was to familiarize children with great art and their diversified development. Classes run from Monday to Friday every day. Many studio members are employed in theater productions as extras and performance artists.

According to Irina Brondz, she is not against such a role as "travesty" (adult actors playing children), if it is a high-level travesty. But today's young audience is more demanding on quality than 50 years ago. Therefore, in the Karambol Theater, children play children on stage, which gives more credibility and persuasiveness.

The first performance in which the children from the studio took part was "Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs". Initially, it was thought that the guys would play the roles of gnomes, but the musical parts turned out to be difficult material for them. • "King Deer". The old Gozzi tale has found a new birth. Under all the masks are just people who want love. This great secret, using the example of a sad story with a good ending, is revealed by the actors of the play.
• "Mary Poppins". A project with Dunayevsky's well-known compositions, as well as new songs about not being afraid of change. Courage of actions and courage of thought is the main engine of the progress of good deeds and good mood.

In 2009, the musical "The Umbrellas of Cherbourg" became the event of the year. The composer Legrand himself, present at the premiere, highly appreciated the Russian version of the project. In 2014, the premiere of the play "June 31" (stage version) was attended by the author of poems Ilya Reznik.
