The world of comics is simply vast and very confusing. Large publishing houses (like Marvel and DC) have been writing their universe since the 40s of the last century. Therefore, following your favorite characters is not an easy task. The origin of comic book characters is constantly changing. Either they kill the character, or they replace it with someone else, or they just reboot.
Ms. Marvel is a superhero who has suffered quite a bit from the publisher's policies. The hero is not particularly popular, which is why editors constantly change the origin of the character, trying to attract the attention of readers to him. Thus, under the pseudonym Ms. Marvel, four different people operated. In this article, we will consider the biography of the classic and very first Ms. Marvel, whose real name is Carol Danvers. Want to know more about this hero? Welcome to this article!
Carol Danvers Marvel
Character has been createdby an artist named Roy Thomas back in 1968. Carol Danvers was originally a member of the United States Air Force. Carol played a minor role in the plot, however, due to the active development of feminism, female characters in art began to receive more attention. Thus, Carol Danvers appeared in comics more and more often. It got to the point that the character was endowed with superpowers and given his own comic book series called Ms. Marvel, which has been in production since 1977.
Biography
Carol has lived with dreams of aviation and flying since childhood. Years later, she got a job in the US Air Force. Thanks to her perseverance, she quickly moved up the career ladder and rose to the rank of major. The promotion opened up a lot of opportunities for her. Carol got the opportunity to participate in secret and dangerous operations, during which she was able to work with such famous heroes as Wolverine, Nick Fury, etc.
When Devners got another promotion and came to work for NASA, she met with a Kree alien named Mar-Vel, better known as Captain Marvel. A special bond develops between Carol and the alien warrior. As a result, they become friends, and later - lovers. It was through this relationship that Carol's life changed once and for all.
Captain Marvel's worst enemy, Yon-Rogg, is kidnapping Carol to use as bait. Marvel defeats the villain and saves his beloved, however, during the battle, an alien psycho-magnetic device exploded. The Kree energy mixed Carol and Marvel's genetic makeup. Thanks to this, the girl became a kind of hybrid of an alien and a human, while gaining the superpowers of Captain Marvel.
Superpowers
Miss Marvel can be called a kind of analogue of Wonder Woman. Carol has superhuman strength and stamina, and her skin is incredibly tough. The girl can withstand pressure up to 92 tons. In addition, she can fly at a speed of 170 meters per second (approximately half the speed of sound). Perhaps the calling card of this character is energy manipulation. Ms. Marvel can shoot projectiles from her hands, absorb various types of energy (from thermal to nuclear) in order to gain additional strength.
Also, do not forget about the personal qualities of the character. Since Carol has served in the Air Force for a long time, she is a professional spy and highly skilled pilot. In addition, she is proficient in army hand-to-hand combat.
Further activities
When Carol discovered her superpowers, she immediately took up the superhero craft, taking the pseudonym Ms. Marvel. Initially, the heroine actively interacted with the Avengers and was a full member of the team. Later, Carol began working with the X-Men. However, she did not stay there for long. Due to a disagreement with Rogue, Ms. Marvel left the team and began to surf the galaxy with the Starjammers. Danvers did not return to Earth for quite some time. However, when the home planet was threatened, MissMarvel has returned to help Quasar save the Sun. Having defeated the enemies, Carol has exhausted her strength. Because of this, she had to stay on Earth to recover. During rehabilitation, Ms. Marvel mended her relationship with the Avengers and became a full-fledged member of the superhero team again.
Carol Danvers after reboot
As you know, Marvel restarted their Universe. As a result, the fate of many characters has changed. Ms Marvel is no exception. The first thing that catches your eye is the new suit that Carol got (photo above). In addition, the concept of the character has changed. At the moment, Carol is one of the main members of the notorious Guardians of the Galaxy team. In addition, Ms. Marvel quite often "visits" other Marvel characters. Thus, Carol appeared in comics about Spider-Man, Avengers, etc. But most often, Ms. Marvel interacts with the heroine, nicknamed Spider-Woman.
