The actor was born in Harrisburg, the capital of Pennsylvania, to Elizabeth (nee Dzicek) and Craig Mabius, director of the museum of colonial history of the village of Aller. His father had Austrian and Irish roots, and his mother was Polish. Eric has an older brother, Craig Mabius. They grew up in the small town of Warren, Massachusetts.
