Eric Mabius, born April 22, 1971, is an American film and television actor. One of his most famous works is the role of Daniel Mead, a womanizer and fashion editor in the comedy series Ugly Betty. With twenty years of experience in the profession and the fear of being stuck in one role, Eric has played many different roles, from a high school jock in the drama Cruel Intentions to a controversial villain in the sci-fi television series Outcasts.
Biography
The actor was born in Harrisburg, the capital of Pennsylvania, to Elizabeth (nee Dzicek) and Craig Mabius, director of the museum of colonial history of the village of Aller. His father had Austrian and Irish roots, and his mother was Polish. Eric has an older brother, Craig Mabius. They grew up in the small town of Warren, Massachusetts. The family had little money, so they baked their own bread, heated the house with a wood-burning stove, and chopped wood themselves. They later moved to the Jersey Shore, then to Amherst, Massachusetts, where the actor attended Amherst Regional High School. Later, Eric entered the private liberal arts Sarah Lawrence College, known for its individual approach to students.
In the eighties, the actor was a member of the US junior luge team. Was named honorary captain at the 2010 Winter Olympics.
Private life
In February 2006 in New Orleans, Mabius married his classmate, interior designer Ivy Sherman, whom he had dated for five years before. In the same year, the couple had their first heir, Maxfield Elliot, and on December 7, 2008, their second son, Rylan Jackson, was born. The family lives in a house located in Topanga, a small community in western Los Angeles County. In his free time from filming, to relax and unwind, the actor is engaged in carpentry and carpentry.
Career start
Eric Mabius, pictured captivating with chiseled features and athletic physique, made his screen debut in the black comedy Welcome to the Dollhouse as Steve Rogers, a charismatic and handsome aspiring rock musician. With this work, he attracted attention, and new proposals were not long in coming. Roles followed in the biographical drama I Shot Andy Warhol and in the adventure film The Journey of Augustus King. For his performance as a high school gang leader in the thriller The Black Brotherhood, Eric received very favorable reviews. However, his most famous work is the role of the secretive athlete Greg McConnell, who is blackmailed and used in the cult film Cruel Intentions. In the 2000s, the actor landed a leading role in the superhero action movie The Crow 3: Salvation, then appeared in a series of low-brow action and horror films, including the Australian-French thriller The Seducer, the crime thriller The Last Contract, and the first of a series of horror films about the zombie apocalypse directed by Paul Anderson "Resident Evil".
Eric later turns his attention to television and quickly takes on more challenging roles: a resentful ex-husband in Sex and the City, a series about the lives of eight lesbians; the unscrupulous dean in the teen TV drama The Lonely Hearts, about a gifted young man from a disadvantaged neighborhood who is adopted by a we althy family; and in Ugly Betty, a stunning portrayal of the character Daniel Meade, a spoiled womanizer and sex addict who begins to question his empty, meaningless life as the story progresses. After success in this television series, in 2006, Mabius was included in the list of "Sexiest Men Alive" by People magazine.
On the small screen, Eric Mabius has been a main cast member in the following projects: the BBC sci-fi series The Outcasts as Julius Berger, former Vice President of the Earth Evacuation Program, and Oliver O'Toole in comedy TV drama Missing Letters about several postal detectives who solve mysteriesundelivered letters or packages and send them when they are most needed.
The actor has also starred in the romantic TV films "Christmas Wedding", "How to Fall in Love" and "Welcome to Christmas".
