The Operetta Theater (Pyatigorsk) is located in a beautiful old building built in 1914. At first, there was the All-Class Club, the project of which was created by the architect A. I. Kuznetsov. The opening of the building took place in 1915. It had a theater hall, a restaurant, a library (one of the best in the city), a billiard room, and a ballroom. Initially, there was no troupe of its own, and artists from the Moscow theater-cabaret "The Bat" came to entertain the audience. The audience was offered operettas, comedies and ballet performances. With the coming to power of the Bolsheviks, the building was turned into the People's House, where revolutionary rallies were held. During the civil war, the building was looted. When the city of Pyatigorsk became Soviet again, the operetta theater (its building) turned into a workers' palace. Herethere were exhibitions, performances and a library. Then the building was renamed again into the Palace of Trade Unions. In 1925, it was renamed. Now the club named after Karl Marx has found Pyatigorsk. The operetta theater turned into a regional drama theater. In 1935, the troupe went on tour. At this time, the theater building was expanded, refurbished and turned into a hostel. On March 10, 1939, actors from Chechnya arrived in the city of Pyatigorsk. The operetta theater began its existence from that day. The artists were already well known, as they had been here on tour more than once. Among the actors of the troupe was the legendary Makhmud Esambaev.

The very first performance that the theater gave was the operetta "Wedding in Malinovka" by B. Alexandrov. The repertoire included Viennese classical operettas, musical comedies by Soviet composers. During the Great Patriotic War, Pyatigorsk was occupied by the Germans. The operetta theater is partially evacuated to the Far East. Artists who did not have time to evacuate continued to give performances. At that time, the city saw such productions as The Blue Mazurka, Silva, Emilia Galotti, The Priestess of Fire, Colombina, The Brazilian Aunt, The Dowry, The Merry Widow, Marietta and "The Lady of the Camellias". Leaving the city, the German invaders set fire to the theater building. The townspeople managed to save him. The Pyatigorsk operetta became known as the Stavropol Regional Theater of Musical Comedy. At the end of the 20th century, interest in the operetta began to decline, the troupe stopped going on tour, the building was dilapidated, the artists were getting old. In 1997 the name changed again. now thisStavropol Regional Operetta Theatre. To date, all difficulties have been overcome. The theater is flourishing, the building has been restored. But the problem of lack of staff remains, and the main reason is low wages.
