The State Philharmonic of the Kostroma Region has for many years been the cultural musical center of the region, as well as a landmark institution for Russian culture.

Philharmonia

The Philharmonic Hall is a vast musical complex, consisting of several working rooms and equipped with the latest technology.

It is no coincidence that such well-known personalities in the world of music as Elena Obraztsova, David Oistrakh, Leonid Kogan, Mstislav Rostropovich collaborate with the Kostroma Philharmonic.

The Philharmonic not only provides artists with a comfortable environment for performances, but also offers professional recording studios.

It is known that many famous works of orchestras conducted by Yuri Bashmet, Vladimir Spivakov and Yuri Simonov were recorded in the studios of the Philharmonic.

The Kostroma Philharmonic is an elite musical institution, famous throughout Russia, and enjoyspopular not only among the residents of the city, but also among connoisseurs of great music and good acoustics from all over the world.

History of the institution

The history of the Kostroma Philharmonic began with the decree of the Minister of Culture of the USSR E. Furtseva, who in 1961 signed a decree on “reforming the music bureau of the city of Kostroma into a regional philharmonic.”

The building itself was opened in 1970, and since then the Philharmonic has been a landmark institution for the region, on the stage of which not only domestic artists, but also world-class musicians constantly perform.

Since Soviet times, the Kostroma Philharmonic has been famous for its unique acoustics, comfortable performance halls, and unique recording opportunities.

In 2015, the Philharmonic Hall underwent a major overhaul and modernization, new studio and concert equipment was installed, and the capacity of the halls was increased. Also, the Philharmonic received an updated main living room, was equipped with vehicles for the disabled.

Teams

Several well-known creative teams are located under the auspices of the Philharmonic:

Soloists

During the decades of its creative activity, the Philharmonicbrought up more than one generation of talented vocalists who were able to achieve recognition at all-Russian and international concert venues. Despite the huge popularity and demand abroad, students of the Philharmonic regularly give concerts within the walls of their alma mater.

In addition to its pupils, the Philharmonic building regularly hosts famous guests from the world of music.

Posters of the Kostroma Philharmonic are constantly full of portraits of famous singers and musicians, including such popular personalities as M. Filippov, V. Kuleshov, E. Mechetina, N. Borisoglebsky, E. Simonova and many others.

Cultural Events

The repertoire of the Kostroma Philharmonic is extremely diverse. It includes both ordinary musical concerts and literary and poetic programs, theatrical performances, and educational events. The Philharmonic Society also regularly produces interesting holiday programs for children and holds entertaining and leisure evenings for adults.

The repertoire of the Philharmonic is constantly updated. In addition to the events already beloved by the audience, the working days of the institution include experimental programs dedicated to the musical culture of various countries of the world.

Festivals

The musical group of the Philharmonic of Kostroma regularly travelsfull complement to various festivals dedicated to classical, academic and jazz music. The orchestra not only demonstrates the highest level of performing arts, but also often wins prizes in various competitions and festivals.

The Philharmonic Orchestra performs not only in specially equipped halls, but also in open areas, which distinguishes it from many other symphony ensembles.

The team goes to many festivals not as a participant, but as a guest orchestra. The final stages of the All-Russian Choral Festival, where the Philharmonic Orchestra accompanied the winners, became such regular trips for the musicians.

The Philharmonic building itself annually hosts participants in the Zharovsky Singing Assemblies festival.

Contests

Annually, the administration of the Philharmonic conducts a series of competitions dedicated to identifying young talents among musicians.

Such contests are:

• "Young talents of Russia" - a competition among performers of folk music.
• International competition for young conductors of symphony orchestras. I. A. Musina.

The winners and prize-winners of these musical competitions get the opportunity to study for free at the best music academies and colleges in Russia, however, as time shows, most of the winners remain to study and work in their hometown, becoming the property of the Kostroma Philharmonic. Such outstanding personalities include Elena Sanzharevskaya,Tatyana Sagin, Antonin Lebedev, Vladimir Volkov and many other artists.

Projects

The Philharmonic of the Kostroma Region boasts a large number of its own projects, created both with the support of the regional administration and on the personal initiative of the institution's employees.

Such projects are of a large scale and, as a rule, do not take place within the walls of the Philharmonic. One of such striking and unique projects was a grandiose production called “Russian National Patriotic Opera in Kostroma Land”, staged by musicians with the support of the Ipatiev Monastery, which made it possible to hold a costume event within its walls. The project is a large-scale costume performance, designed in the style of ancient Russian epics and legends.

The second major project of the Kostroma Philharmonic was the annual summer flash mob "Music in the Plein Air", traditionally held by the full musical staff of the Philharmonic in the middle of summer. The project consists of several open-air musical evenings, during which jazz classics are performed, as well as light dance melodies of the last century. For children, "Music in the Plein Air" is remembered by bright theatrical performances of various musicals and fairy tales.

Halls

There are three music halls in the Kostroma Philharmonic. Each of which has its own specifics and is designed for special musical events.

Concerts are held in the Great Philharmonic Hallfamous musicians, ensembles, as well as author's performances of soloists of various institutions. The ensemble of Russian folk instruments "Russian Style", soloists Vladimir Volkov and Anatoly Yarovoy, opera singers Antonina Lebedeva and Tatyana Sagina held their concerts here.

The hall of chamber and organ music is designed only for performances by master organists, as well as for performances by groups performing medieval academic music on ancient wind instruments. It was here that such masters of organ sound as Werner Jakob, Alexander Zheludkov, Harry Grodberg and many others came to give concerts.

Literary and musical evenings usually take place in the main living room, which do not require a large number of instruments, and are also relatively short in terms of timing. Also, the living room is used for holding author's and poetry evenings, benefit performances or public readings of various works. There are meetings with famous authors: writers, poets, musicians…

Programs

The Kostroma State Philharmonic has been closely cooperating with the Ministry of Education and for many years has been successfully presenting a series of educational music programs ranging from the study and analysis of iconic works of Russian classics to teaching the audience the basics of musical theory.

Training programs include such performances as “Onegin is my good friend…”, “The house where music lives”, “There once lived an absent-minded person”, “My dear, good ones”, “Living corner” and many others.

Cultural and leisure programs presented by the Kostroma Regional Philharmonic introduce everyone to the culture of jazz and pop music. Events such as "Variety Idols", "We are with you", "Journey to the Jazz Planet", "Invitation to a Holiday" will not leave indifferent any connoisseur of beautiful music.

In addition to educational and entertainment programs, the leadership of the Philharmonic pays great attention to the cultural and patriotic education of the younger generation.

Programs such as “We can’t forget these roads…”, “Military songs - human fates”, “Songs scorched by war”, “May W altz”, “From the heroes of bygone times” are designed to show schoolchildren and students strength and the courage of the defenders of the Motherland, the unshakable firmness of their spirit.

All programs are unique in their content, as they were developed taking into account the creative characteristics of soloists and musicians of the Philharmonic. Sometimes the guests of the program are well-known creative personalities, whose tours also take place in Kostroma.

Subscriptions

It has become a good tradition of the Kostroma Philharmonic to provide annual subscriptions to regular listeners. Usually the administration of the institution prepares for each season:

• 18 subscriptions, each including access to over sixty unique concert programs;
• 3 subscriptions, each of which includes the possibility of choosing a concert program at will;
• 6 special children's passes valid duringholidays and includes the best works of world classical music.

Concert programs that can be visited with Philharmonic subscriptions are very diverse and can significantly expand the musical horizons and emotional range of both a young lover of symphonic music and an experienced listener of academic works.
