The musical theater "Helikon-Opera" is quite young. His repertoire includes operas and operettas. The founder of the theater is Dmitry Bertman.
History
In the 90s of the 20th century, Moscow celebrated the emergence of a new creative young team. The theater "Helikon-Opera" was conceived by its founder as a musical theater, which it has been for all the years of its existence. The troupe was assembled from young talented artists. What does the name "Helikon" mean? There are several versions. Some believe that it came from a mountain in ancient Greece, where musicians and singers sacrificed themselves. Others say that the theater is named after a musical wind instrument.
The building on Bolshaya Nikitskaya Street, where the theater is located, is the mansion where Princess Nastasya Dashkova lived. Then its owner was Senator Fyodor Ivanovich Glebov. Musical evenings were always held in this estate, performances were shown. At the end of the 19th century, the premises were transferred to the theater, where French and Italian troupes performed. At the beginning of the 20th century a chamber stage opened here. The building, inherited by Dmitry Bertman's troupe, is historical. The opening of the theater "Helikon-Opera" took place here on April 10, 1990. IN 2007The building was closed for extensive renovations. The artists temporarily worked at another site. Performances have resumed on Bolshaya Nikitskaya quite recently. The renovated building meets all modern requirements.
