In four action films released at different times on the screen, the actors of the film RoboCop change, but the storyline remains almost identical.

Robocop

Robocop, or robotic policeman, is a fictional character known to the whole world, included, according to the World of Fiction magazine, in the top three "most-most robots". It was his image that laid the foundation for a series of fantastic films of the same name. According to the idea of the authors, it was created on the basis of the human central nervous system of police officer Alex Jay Murphy from Detroit, who died during the mission. The corporation that created it saysthe absence of consciousness in the robot and claims ownership rights to it. His actions are limited to three main aspects: to obey the law, to protect the innocent and to serve the society, which echoes the three laws of A. Asimov's robotics.

Paul Verhoeven's film

The premiere of the first version of the fantastic action movie, filmed by the famous director from the Netherlands, took place in 1987. Robocop (actor Peter Weller) was a great success, winning an IFC award, one Oscar and two nominations, as well as 8 other prestigious film awards. The film's budget was $13 million, and the box office was $53.4 million. The film's widespread popularity and commercial success led to the creation of sequels (now 4 films in total), animated series, comics, video games, television series, etc.

Fully finished tape in 1987 received an age limit of 18+ due to the abundance of scenes of violence and the amount of blood. This situation practically put an end to the director's rental expectations, and he went for re-editing, reducing the number of violent moments. The final version had a qualification of 16+. This film can rightly be called "Robocop 1". The actors involved in the project are not so well known to the modern audience. Participation in the first part of the franchise for many of them was a high point.

About the plot

The action of a fantastic action movie takes place in the near future. The gloomy streets of Detroit are engulfed in a wave of violence. The government makes a deal with a commercial enterprise that promises to improve the work of the police and the municipality. However, she is interestednot in the restoration of Detroit, but in its complete replacement with the so-called "city of the future", completely subject to the corporation. Initially, the streets should be cleared of criminals, and for this the company offers a robot. The body of Alex Murphy, a police officer killed on a mission, is used as a biological (human) basis.

Starring actors

Peter Weller is the first actor to play Robocop (pictured above). He graduated from the University of North Texas and then the Academy of Dramatic Arts, after which he began a career in the theater. He played in more than 50 films, but it was RoboCop that brought him the greatest popularity. After shooting the second part of the franchise, he was supposed to participate in the third. However, the actor refused, as he was extremely dissatisfied with the script of the previous film. He is now an active faculty member at Syracuse University in the Department of Literature and Fine Arts, and hosts History Channel's How Empires Were Made.

The role of Alex Murphy's partner, police officer Ann Lewis in the Robocop trilogy was played by American film actress Nancy Ann Allen. The lead actor, as already mentioned, this time is Joel Kinnaman. In addition to him, negotiations were held with Russell Crowe, Michael Fassbender and Matthias Schoenaerts.

Unlike its 1987 predecessor, the film received very mixed reviews from critics and did not do as well at the box office.

About the plot

The head of a large corporation wants to use robots instead of ordinary people in the police service. However, this proposal is not welcomed by a widepublic and does not pass in the Senate. Then the board of the company comes to the decision to create something new and revolutionary, a product that would combine the capabilities of the human brain and advanced developments in the field of robotics. To do this, they invite the brilliant scientist D. Norton. Together they go through the police records in search of a suitable candidate.

In the remake, Alex Murphy also dies, but this time a different method is chosen - the criminals plant explosives in his car. In addition, the main character has a family.

However, over time, scientists realize that it is difficult to combine the human mind and feelings with the composure of a machine. In the film, the theme of this internal struggle is more revealed, when the brain cannot cope with the load and you have to suppress some of its feelings, causing suffering to those close to you and Alex himself.

"Robocop": actors and roles (2014)

Unlike the original film, in the remake the main character does not have a partner, but a partner Jack Lewis performed by Michael K. Williams.

The role of Alex Murphy's wife Clara was performed by Australian actress Abbie Cornish (photo above). She is familiar to the domestic audience primarily from the films Good Year, Candy, Bright Star, and Areas of Darkness. The role was offered to Rebecca Hall, but she turned it down, and other applicants included Jessica Alba, Kate Mara and Keri Russell.

Brilliant scientist Dr. Dennett Norton is portrayed on the screen by a world celebrity - British actor, producer, director and musician GaryOldman. He is known for his amazing skill in the field of transformation from an absolute villain to a positive character.
