The classical six-string guitar is the most popular among all types of guitars. For two centuries, it is she who proves her superiority over the novelties of her family. And all because not a single guitar has yet been able to reach the level of artistic possibilities and timbre coloration that a six-string guitar fully possesses.
Acoustic Features
The acoustic features of the guitar are influenced, first of all, by the special structure of the wooden body, invented in the 19th century by the Spanish master and guitarist Antonio Torres. The body serves as an excellent resonator and sound amplifier. The larger the body, the deeper the timbre extracted from the instrument.
Classical guitar strings these days are made of nylon. The difference in timbres is achieved due to the thickness of the strings, three of which are wrapped with a metal thread. Less commonly, a six-string guitar is equipped with all-metal strings. This instrument can be played by bards andjust lovers. Professionals are more picky when choosing a guitar.
Artistic Features
The versatility of the six-string guitar is undeniable. The variety of genres in which the sound of the guitar is appropriate is comparable only to the sound of a classical piano. It's hard to imagine modern music without these kings of the music world.
Who do you associate a six-string guitar with? Isn't it true that the first thing that comes to mind is a tanned Spaniard, a tourist by the fire, a gypsy camp … And if you think about it, you can understand that the guitar is the instrument that is available to everyone, but only a few achieve true mastery.
The manner of performance, genre coloring and artistic techniques of playing the guitar for each performer have a different meaning. If for a Spanish guitarist it is a classical instrument that can be mastered throughout life and improved, bringing skill and virtuosity to the limit, then for a gypsy it is an instrument that brightens up the everyday life of nomadic life. For a bard, it's a subject of self-expression, and for a yard boy, it's a way to please girls.
Be that as it may, the six-string guitar has a special charm that will not leave anyone indifferent.
Six-string tuning
In the classical version, the six-string guitar system should represent the following parameters, starting from the lowest, thinnest: mi-si-sol-re-la-mi. In a more familiar guitar notation: E-H-G-D-A-E.
Tuning a six-string guitar starts with the thinnest string. If the guitarist has to play together with a group of musicians playing other instruments, it is advisable to use a tuning fork when tuning. This is necessary for fine tuning to the tonality of the performed compositions. But when the guitar is used for private purposes, the need for accurate tonality is lessened. And in some cases, musicians deliberately distort tonal characteristics in accordance with their vocal abilities.
Six-string tuning
Pressing the first string on the fifth fret, you will hear a sound corresponding to the sound of "A" or a frequency of 440 hertz if you make fine tuning. A little trick: the phone beeps at a frequency of 415 hertz. This is a frequency close to the sound of "sol-sharp", that is, the first string, clamped at the fourth fret.
Pinch the second string at the fifth fret, and get unison with the open first. The fourth, fifth and sixth strings line up according to the same principle. And only the third string needs to be clamped on the fourth fret so that its sound matches the sound of the second string.
Extreme strings make up a pure octave. If this does not happen, then the guitar is tuned incorrectly, and you will not be able to build a single correct chord.
To master the simple science of the basics of playing the six-string guitar, it is not at all necessary to graduate from a music school or a music university. The guitar can be ranked among the modern folk instruments, accessible and understandable for both amateurs andand for professionals. That is why the guitar is not in vain ranked among the folk instruments that can combine the philosophy and lifestyle of various genres and peoples.
