"The Kid and Carlson Who Lives on the Roof" is a trilogy by the Swedish writer Astrid Lindgren (1907-2002). The story tells about a small fat man of indeterminate age with a propeller on his back, who lived on the roof of one of the apartment buildings in Stockholm. Carlson liked to walk on the rooftops, making little pranks, and also to eat well and heartily.

Thanks to the work of Lindgren, in 1968 director Boris Stepantsev released the first cartoon series called "The Kid and Carlson". The second series "Carlson returned" came out two more years later, in 1970.
