In 1967, the first Soviet film-musical "Wedding in Malinovka" was released. A large number of songs, dances, a lot of bright outfits, a lot of funny scenes, the intrigues of the former village headman and attacks by gangs - this is how the film shows the formation of Soviet power in a single village.

About the film

There are negative characters in the film - the ataman with his gang, positive characters - the military of the Red Army and the inhabitants of the village around which the plot revolves. During the civil war, a gang of ataman Gritian Tauride periodically visits one village. To catch her, the commander of the Red Army detachment incites one young girl to arrange a fictitious wedding and at the same time tie the whole gang.

Charming and attractive

The most memorable character in the film is Popandopulo, the assistant to the main villain. But despite the fact that he is in the camp of negative heroes, Popandopulo was able to charm literally everyone with his charm. To the best of a slob, a little stupid, but he will never harm himself, sincerely believes thatsays and feels "where the wind blows". Popandopulo is the most comical member of the gang of Ataman Gritian of Tauride. Popandopulo's phrases instantly became winged and quickly went to the people. And even now, from time to time you can hear: “And I’m so in love with someone else?” Or sacramental: "Let's see if I cheated myself?". And even the song sung by Popandopulo is somehow awkward, like himself, but nevertheless fell in love with the viewer.

The person who played the role of Popandopulo is the actor Mikhail G. Vodyanoy. A native of the city of Kharkov (1924). From childhood, Mikhail showed interest in music and attended drama clubs all the time. Mikhail's talent helped him enter immediately into the second year of the Leningrad Theater Institute, at the acting department. After graduating from the institute, he was an actor at the Pyatigorsk Theater, and after some time began to perform at the Lvov Theater of Musical Comedy. Since 1953 Vodyanoy has been working at the Odessa Theater of Musical Comedy. In 1957 he was awarded the title of Honored Artist, and seven years later, in 1964, he received the title of People's Artist of Ukraine.

The film debut of Mikhail Vodyany took place in 1958. He played the role of Yashka Tug in the film "White Acacia". In this film, he embodied the image of a fraer from Odessa in the fifties. The image turned out bright and memorable.

The next role was in the adventure film "The Squadron Goes West". But nationwide fame and love came to him thanks to the film "Wedding in Malinovka".

But, despite successful film roles, Mikhail Vodyanoypreferred to act in the theater rather than acting in films.
