Julianne Alexandra Hough is an American dancer, singer and actress. Julianne Hough is a two-time winner of the American dance television show Dancing with the Stars. In 2007, she was nominated for a Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Choreography for the show's fifth season. She landed her first major acting role in 2011 in the musical film Loose. In September 2014, Julianne returned to Dancing with the Stars as a judge. Along with her brother Derek (who is a six-time dance show winner) and Tessandra Chavez, she finally won an Emmy for Outstanding Choreography in 2015. In 2016, Julianna starred in the television remake of Grease.
Early years
Julianne Hough was born in the small town of Orem, in Utah (USA). In a family of five children, the girl was the youngest child. Julianne's parents, Marianne and Bruce Hough, were Mormons. Father twice became chairman of the Utah Republican Party. Julianne's brother Derek is also a professional dancer. The girl also has three older sisters: Sheri, Marebeth and Katherine. All four of Hough's grandparents wereprofessional ballet dancers. Julianne is also a second cousin of R5 musicians Riker, Rydel, Rocky and Ross Lynch. Their grandmothers were sisters.
The beginning of a dance career
Julianne Hough started ballroom dancing at the Central Performing Arts Studio in Orem, at the age of 9 she was already competing. In 1999, when she was 10 years old, the girl's parents were going through a divorce and sent her and her brother Derek to London to live and study with mentors - Corky and Shirley Ballas. Along with Julianne and Derek, the mentors also taught dance to their own son, Mark. Following in Derek's footsteps, Julianna enrolled with him at the Conti Academy of Theater Arts in Italy when enrollment opened there. They received training in singing, theater arts, gymnastics and various dance genres, including jazz, ballet and tap dance. When the girl was 12, the three boys formed their own pop music trio 2B1G ("2 boys, 1 girl"), they performed at various dance competitions in the UK and the US, and ended up on a British television show. At the age of 15, Julianne Hough became the youngest dancer and the only American woman to win the Latin American dance competition in two categories at once: "Junior" and "Youth".
After a while, the girl returned to her father in the United States and entered high school in Utah. After graduation, Julianna entered the Academy of Arts in Las Vegas.
Dancing with the Stars
Hough was the winner of the setdance shows, is the owner of various prestigious awards and prizes for choreography. In 2008, she once again took part in the show "Dancing with the Stars". During one of the performances, she felt severe pain in her stomach and was immediately taken to the hospital. She had an operation to remove her appendix, because of which Julianne had to miss several performances. Two weeks later, the girl returned to the show, although her couple was eliminated from the competition in the semi-finals.
November 20, 2008 Julianne told Ryan Seacrest on his show that she wasn't going to return to the show for the foreseeable future as she wanted to devote herself to pursuing her music career. However, she returned in the eighth season, partnering with her boyfriend, country singer Chuck Wicks. The couple finished in 6th place. In October 2011, Julianne returned to the show again and performed two dances with Kenny Wormald, a colleague in the musical "Free". In 2012, she danced as part of the promotional campaign for her new film Rock of the Ages. Hough was a guest judge on October 7, 2013, and returned as a permanent judge on Dancing with the Stars in September 2014.
Music
Hough's first country single was released in May 2007 to raise money for the American Red Cross. Julianna later signed with a record label in Nashville. Her debut album was recorded there and produced by David Malloy.
In 2009 the AcademyUS country music nominated her for two awards: Best New Female Artist and Best Female Choice Singer, which she subsequently won.
Her second album was fully completed in 2010, but was never released due to the heavy workload of the artist in the cinema. "When I feel it's the right time and when I can fully focus on it, I'll get back to music," Julianne Hough said.
