Student years

Once Smolyakov saw an advertisement in the newspaper about the admission of students to the theater school. What prompted the young man to try his hand at this competition is unknown. Andrei Igorevich himself claims that before starting his studies at the Shchukin School, he had never visited a drama theater. Nevertheless, Smolyakov passed all the stages of the entrance exams with honor and, unexpectedly for himself, turned out to be a student at the B. V. Shchukin Theater School. Three years later, Andrei decided to transfer to the State Institute of Theater Arts, now the famous GITIS, to the course of O. Tabakov. The reason for this act was the desire of the future actor to learn from the recognized master of Soviet cinema.
