Serials of the USSR once became a link for many Soviet families: they collected both old and small ones near the TV screens. However, time passes, and TV shows from the Soviet past are still quite popular. They have their own audience, their own fans.

The USSR has become the Motherland not only of outstanding personalities in the field of science, industry, politics and others, but also of movie and stage legends. Together with the directors, they created unforgettable Soviet masterpieces.

Public polls show that USSR serials are among the most popular films. For example, the top ten includes such Soviet works as “The meeting place cannot be changed” (7th place), “Seventeen Moments of Spring” (6th place). These best series of the USSR coexist with modern, sensational and beloved by the public creations of world cinema: "Game of Thrones", "Sherlock", "Doctor House", "Breaking Bad", "Escape", "The Big Bang Theory", "Dexter" and others.

Of course, we can say that the USSR serials have lost their relevance a little. However, now they have becomea chronicle of a past life, which attracts numerous spectators. The four-episode drama "Calling Fire on Ourselves" became the pioneer of the Soviet television series era. The military adventure saga was released in 1964.

What is remarkable for the audience of the first series of the USSR? The actors, together with director Sergei Kolosov, were able to safely avoid the stereotype of Soviet films about partisans and underground fighters. It can be called the standard of all Soviet military films and serials. There are no fiery speeches about the strength of their patriotic love, no ostentatious heroic scenes. Shown here are ordinary people who sacrifice themselves for the good of others.

Furthermore, Calling Fire on Ourselves is based on a true story. The series shows the unity of the Slavic brothers in the fight against a common enemy.

It became the discovery of another page in the annals of the Great Patriotic War, which was conducted by intelligence forces. The plot of the series is based on the description of the activities of a Soviet agent, Colonel Isaev (SS Standartenführer Stirlitz), who performs the tasks of the Center.

In addition, the series finds a place for itself and a love, one might even say, a tragic family line. It is known that the scene of the meeting between Stirlitz and his wife in a German tavern was not in the original version of the script: the idea arose in the process of work. As conceived by Lioznova, the director, the scene was supposed to show the power of all-consuming love, which is inherent in the few. Love that can overcomeany distances and difficulties.

The first foreign TV series that viewers of Central Television could see was "The Forsyte Saga". The series, consisting of 26 parts, was released on Soviet blue screens in 1967.

Peter Velyaminov, who played the chairman of the collective farm Zakhar Bolshakov in the series "Shadows Disappear at Noon" and Polikarp Kruzhilin in "Eternal Call", had no special acting education. In addition, there is a little-known fact in his biography: he spent 10 years in camps - from 17 to 27 years old.

According to eyewitnesses, during the days when absolutely all episodes of “Seventeen Moments of Spring” were shown, people were rarely walking on the streets. And police officers noted that during these hours the number of crimes committed decreased. This is the effect military and detective series of the USSR had on the audience: even inveterate brawlers, drunkards and hooligans forgot about their criminal inclinations so as not to miss a single frame of a work of a genre new to the Soviet audience.
