Childhood memories

The future director was born in Leningrad. Due to circumstances, his upbringing was carried out by his grandparents, educated and intelligent people. That is why Andrei Balashov read and counted from the age of four. He went to first grade with a decent amount of knowledge.

As Andrei himself recalls, his grandfather would not let him go out with friends until he multiplied millions in his mind. For a child, this was a dubious pleasure, but Andrei Balashov later appreciated the "joke" of his grandfather. Firstproject

Balashov did not work in his speci alty. At the institute, he was always the ideological inspirer of any events and skits. He was not only an active participant, but also a scriptwriter.

The road to glory began with Andrey Balashov from the radio station "Modern". The creative environment infected him, and after a while he was offered to become the director of a radio program.

At this time, the idea of the radio project "Full Modern!" with the participation of Dmitry Nagiyev and Alla Dovlatova. Later Sergey Rost joined the team. In this form, the project existed for some time, gained a lot of fans and, on a wave of fame, was transferred to television. The first short episodes were shown in 1995 on St. Petersburg regional television.

After a year, the series was expanded, each episode lasted 25-30 minutes. Its name has also changed, which is familiar to everyone: "Caution, modern!". Over a hundred episodes have been released in total.

Comic projects

Andrey Balashov, whose biography is not known to the general public, does not worry about the fact that television directors are not in front of the viewer. He starred in many minor roles in his projects, but not for the sake of popularity. He approaches everything in life with humor, and therefore the roles of Balashov are quite specific - a bum, a prostitute, an alcoholic.

In 2002, a new series called "Camera! Action!" saw the light of day. The shooting process became a source of inspiration. The viewer was able to see twelve series of sketches for thissubject.

Andrey Balashov is a talented and creative director, he became the author of the project "Caution, Zadov", where Dmitry Nagiyev continued to play the main role. Two full seasons were filmed. Among the actors were such cinematographers as Mikhail Boyarsky, Igor Lifanov, Lyudmila Gurchenko, Lyubov Polishchuk and others.

In 2006, a new humorous series from the director - "Merry Neighbors" was released. Each episode is a story about the inhabitants of an ordinary high-rise building, who now and then find themselves in ridiculous and funny situations. In 2010, the audience saw a new work by Balashov - a pseudo-historical sketch show about Petka and Vasily Ivanovich. As in famous jokes, the characters get into funny troubles and look for a way out with humor.

It would be unfair to call Balashov the director of only humorous series, although he certainly succeeded in this. VGIK students were even taught editing on the materials of his work.

In 2008, he left the humorous genre for a while and devoted himself to the detective genre, becoming one of the directors of the series "Foundry 4". Shooting about the special department for the investigation of especially important crimes captivated the director. Therefore, several more works of a similar theme appeared in his creative piggy bank.

In 2009, the mini-series "Sea Devils. Fates" was released. In 2011 - "Drug Traffic" - a series that raisesacute social issues. A year later, Andrey Balashov is filming the Rust series about the activities of the anti-corruption committee.

For the past few years, he has focused on the work of a screenwriter. Based on his works, the TV series "Shaman", "Plague", "Alien Face" and the 2014 feature film "Inglorious Morons" were filmed.
