Tony Mortimer was one of the founding members of the band East 17. In addition, he was the lead singer in the band. It was founded back in 1982. Tony, along with Brian Harvey, John Handy and Terry Caldwell, became the idols of millions of people. Their songs combined several genres: hip-hop, pop, R&B, ballad. All members of the group were different from each other, each had his own style, and therefore people liked them so much, especially girls.
A little about Tony
Tony Mortimer comes from a family of carpenters and housewives. In general, the musician said that he had a happy childhood, but a tragedy happened in his life. His older brother was one of the members of the teenage street gangs. One day he got into a difficult situation and decided to commit suicide. After the death of one of the closestpeople Tony became a very withdrawn child. He did not communicate with anyone, practically did not leave the room. Over time, he began to write poetry, and later songs.
In 1997, East 17 started having problems. There were constant conflicts between Tony and Brion Harvey. As a result, this led to the departure of both musicians from the band.
After a long stagnation, in 2011 Tony returned to the group, and the team lasted until 2014. Nominally, East 17 still has not broken up, but it is practically inactive. Now Tony is pursuing a solo career. The musician is often invited to various television programs, where he is interviewed, and also where he performs. Together with the East 17 group, he attended the popular Russian program Evening Urgant.
The musician is married. Tony Mortimer and his wife Tracey have two wonderful children. The couple has been together since they were young.
