N. Karachentsov, whose filmography mostly consists of films of Soviet cinema classics, is one of the most talented Russian actors of the second half of the 20th century. Unfortunately, due to he alth reasons, the artist was forced to leave the stage, but over his long career, he left a rich legacy anyway. So, what films with Karachentsov should be watched by a lover of good cinema?
Early years and early career
Nikolai Karachentsov is a native Muscovite. His father worked as a graphic artist, and his mother worked as a choreographer. In such a creative family, a gifted child was bound to be born - and it happened.
Nikolay grew up as an artistic boy. He showed interest in music. In high school, Kolya became addicted to amateur theater and took an active part in amateur performances.
Karachentsov entered the Moscow Art Theater School the first time, which is a great success. During his studies, Nikolai managed to excel and become one of the best students. After graduation, youngthe person was assigned to Lenkom, where he subsequently worked all his life.
Theatrical career of Nikolai Petrovich was as successful as the screen one. Karachentsov, whose filmography began to replenish with films back in 1968, after a couple of years, he switched to starring in various films.
Creative breakthrough
After a string of now little-known films ("Elder Son", "Magic Lantern"), Nikolai Karachentsov received a prominent role in the musical comedy "Dog in the Manger" by Jan Fried. It was 1977, and Karachentsov played Marquis Ricardo, in love with Countess Diana.
Karachentsov's partners on the set were such stars of Soviet cinema as Mikhail Boyarsky, Margarita Terekhova, Igor Dmitriev, Armen Dzhigarkhanyan and many others. This role made the actor famous throughout the Soviet Union.
Further, Jan Fried invited Nikolai Petrovich to one more of his screen performances - "Pious Martha". Again, the main female role in the musical film Frida went to Margarita Terekhova, and this time Emmanuil Vitorgan played the main male role. Karachentsov received a supporting role: he played a close friend of the protagonist.
Jan Frid's films were very popular with the public, so we can say that the actor made a name for himself in these pictures. And, of course, we must not forget the famous children's film "The Adventures of Electronics" directed by Konstantin Bromberg, in which Nikolai Petrovich played the criminal Urri.
Best films of the 1970s
Karachentsov, whose filmography in the 70s was replenished with 25 films, played during this period of his life in films that are definitely worth watching.
In 1979, the actor appeared in one of the episodes of the famous film "The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson." The role of Sherlock Holmes in this film was played by Vasily Livanov, Dr. Watson was played by Vitaly Solomin.
The film "The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson" is worth seeing, if only because the British themselves recognized this adaptation of the works of Arthur Conan Doyle as the best of all, and Livanov himself was awarded the Order of the British Empire.
In the same 1979, Karachentsov starred in another cult Soviet TV series - "Connoisseurs are investigating." In a series called "The Shepherd with a Cucumber", the actor played the role of a jeweler Kim Faleev.

The 80s began for the actor with work on the legendary play by Mark Zakharov "Juno and Avos". However, the performance was so popular that in 1983 a television version was created. Subsequently, Pierre Cardin saw this opera and contributed to its popularization in France. Soon the Lenkom troupe and, of course, Karachentsov went on a European tour, demonstrating Juno and Avos on the besttheater stages in the USA, Germany and Holland.
What is it about in the rock opera "Juno and Avos"? Karachentsov plays in the production of Count Rezanov, who in 1806 leads two ships of the same name to the shores of America. Its goal is to establish trade links between California and the Russian Empire. In California, Rezanov has an affair with the daughter of a famous Spanish colonist. They secretly get married despite all the gossip, but Rezanov needs to go back. Beloved promises the count that she will wait for his return. She had been waiting for him for thirty years, not even suspecting that Rezanov had died on the way to Russia.
Musical hits from the opera - "I'll Never Forget You" and "Song of the Sailors" are very popular to this day.
