Novel-fairy tale "Dwellers of the Hills"

"The Hill Dwellers" is Richard's first and most successful work. The novel is a heroic fantasy that tells the reader about the incredible adventures of a group of brave rabbits. And this is not surprising: the author opens up a huge and wonderful world for the reader with unusual, but nevertheless attractive characters. Adams very organically combines fiction with reality, which gives the book an additional charm. For example, in the work there are real rabbit habits, which, despite their realism, are very cute and funny. Among other things, it pleases that each character of the work is a personality. Each hero has their own character and clear motivation.

History of Creation

The Hill Dwellers is based on a story that Richard told his daughters during a long road trip. The writer, in order to entertain the children, began to improvise and came up with a story on the go. As the main characters, he took a group of adorable rabbits. The plot was based on a story from his life, which took place in 1944 during the battle for Osterbeek (Holland). The children liked the story very much, for this reason Richard decided to transfer his creation to paper and publish a book dedicated to his daughters.
