Moiseenko Evsey Evseevich never remembered when he started to draw. Born in 1916 into a peasant family, he got used to rural work in hilly fields from early childhood. Living the simplest life among rickety monochromatic huts, he knew how to find beauty in the masculinity of his fellow villagers, who every day went to work under the hot sun, in forests and endless fields, in the night starry sky, which he looked at, running away with the neighbor boys, even in churches - old and lopsided with time. It was all this that left the strongest imprint in the memory of the future artist;
The beginning of life's journey
Yevsey Evseevich was born in Uvarovichi, Gomel district of the Mogilev province on August 28. Moiseenko Evsey Evseevich began his journey from a young age, when a special view of things was just beginning to take shape. His grandfather Prokofy helped him develop spiritually, becoming the first who began to accustom him to the beautiful, to feel nature and learn the laws of life. At school, Yevsey studied paintings by Russian artists and learned to draw himself, and after graduating he went to get an education in Moscow. Yevsey at that time was only 15 years old, but the decision to become an artist was firmer than ever.
The road to creativity
Following his dream, still a young and inexperienced teenager, he began to absorb new knowledge at the Moscow Art and Industrial School named after M. I. Kalinin. He discovered new things, fanatically studying everything that teachers could give him, got acquainted with form, color and composition, studied the history of painting and studied the setting of still life. Thanks to the professionalism of the teachers of the school, Moiseenko learned to analyze and study the work before starting it, curbed his passion and directed inspiration in the right direction. For days on end the artist studied all the basics of the art of painting, working, as his parents taught him from childhood, all his free time from study.
Acquaintance with famous artists of that time, their advice and instructions, trips to the theater and exhibitions, cultural life in the very heart of Russia helped Yevsey hone his skills more and more. Possessing a craving for everything heroic, deep emotional emotions, he stopped time in his paintings, depicting momentschoppy movements.
Finding a Place in Art
After graduating from college, Evsey Evseevich was admitted to the faculty of the Institute of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture of the All-Russian Academy of Arts. His mentor was the teacher A. A. Osmerkin, to whom Yevsey really wanted to get. As in the school, Moiseenko Evsey Evseevich again became one of the best students among all. The pictures that he painted under the close supervision of a mentor became more meaningful. Moiseenko's hand gained firmness and confidence, clarity and organization appeared in the works. The young artist continued to learn to look into the depths of things, learn their meaning and transfer them to the canvas in accordance with the laws of composition and color. Each creative personality was formed individually by the Osmerkins, the foundation was built, with its own special approach, including to Yevsey. Soon, Moiseenko's work began to deserve the praise of teachers and special attention from students.
For Yevsey, the period of study at the institute was decisive in his development. Its goals and methods of work were determined. The artist's paintings spoke with their unique style.
By the end of his studies, he took on a rather difficult undergraduate work, but did not have time to finish it, the Great Patriotic War prevented.
The beginning of the creative path
Returning from the front, graduating with honors and praise from the institute, Moiseenko Evsey Evseevich began his career. His first serious work was the painting "General Dovator", written in 1947. It was participation in the war, where Yevsei came face to face with danger, saw with his own eyes and himself became a participant in the exploits of Soviet soldiers, that helped him complete the work. The main character of the picture is the general and commander Lev Mikhailovich Dovator, surrounded by captured Nazis, behind whom is the liberated land. In his work, Moiseenko was able to reflect the delight of the victory and the majesty of the troops, achieved absolute unity between the composition, colors and the correct placement of the accent, which earned him the highest praise from the teachers of the institute.
After such a triumph, Evsey Evseevich Moiseenko, who already had the title of artist, went deep into work from 1950 to 1954, as a result of which the works “For the Power of the Soviets”, “Partisans”, “In the Steppe” were recognized by the public. But Moiseenko did not stop at these works, continuing to try himself in different paths, looking for his own, individual perfection.
The artist continues to turn to the military theme. Moiseenko Evsey Evseevich relives his memories again and again. The works that he creates form a series dedicated to the Red Army and filled with the romance of heroism: "Eaglet", "Trumpeter of the First Cavalry", "Farewell".
The Reds have arrived
The faces of the cavalry detachment that returned from the war are very close. The illnesses and sufferings that touched them do not erase the faint smiles on their faces, because they finally returned home, to their families, with victory. And again, with rough strokes, Moiseev seems to tear the picture out of reality and places it on the canvas, just about, and redriders move on, leaving the canvas.
The painting "The Reds Came" has become one of the most significant paintings in history and the best in the history of painting during the Soviet Union. Canvas visited many exhibitions, Moiseenko Evsei Evseevich was awarded the I. E. Repin Prize for her. It took Moiseenko a lot of time to create this masterpiece, spent thinking about the work. This picture was not the first that brought him honor and respect, but the first on the way to universal recognition.
Memories of war
Separately, he devoted time to his memories of the Great Patriotic War, where he participated in the battles near Leningrad, was captured and was released by the allied armies. From these memories, a series of paintings "You Can't Forget This" was born. Yevsey Evseevich Moiseenko, having painted many canvases about life in captivity in fascist camps, barracks, fellow soldiers, the joy of liberation and long-awaited freedom, for 15 years recreated moments from his life from memory, not allowing the wounds in his soul to heal. The canvases included in this series were called: “Militias”, “Barrack”, “Song”, “He won”, “Freedom”.
15 years later
Throughout his life, Yevsey did not stop working, he repeatedly returned to his native village, where childhood memories surfaced, innocent, not yet touched by the harsh life of life. He painted canvases with landscapes, which he often admired at a young age, even before leaving for Moscow.
After 15 years, the artist returned to the topic of collective farms, fieldwork, village. Now he carefully studies the human nature of an ordinary peasant, his life and way of life. The paintings "Earth", "Comrades", "Sergey Yesenin with his grandfather" are being created, subsequently exhibited at the exhibition "Soviet Russia-65".
Mother sisters
Not dwelling on one thing, Moiseenko's next goal was to set himself a portrait. And not just a portrait, but an image of a Russian woman, with her characteristic fortitude and courage. As a result, a new work of the artist "Mother-sisters" was published. Evsey Evseevich Moiseenko again refers to the memories of the women who accompanied their children and husbands to the war, and of their own mother. The main idea of the work was the tragedy of farewell, and everything in the picture points to grief: long figures occupying almost the entire canvas, and strict faces watching their relatives go to death, motionless and silent.
