This article will answer your question: how to draw bamboo step by step?
Did you know that bamboo is the fastest growing plant and is a symbol of longevity? Wouldn't it be nice to create a small symbol of long life for yourself too? Now you can learn how to draw bamboo.
Preparatory stage
Tools you will need to draw bamboo with a pencil:
- simple pencils of different hardness (hard and soft);
- sheet of paper of suitable size;
- Eraser.
It is important to understand what bamboo stems are made of. Bamboo trunk looks like bonesskeleton (joints play the role of bones, and internodes are similar to cartilage).
Start drawing
Let's look at the first option, how to draw bamboo:
- With a hard pencil, sketch four long cylinders for the bamboo stems. Draw them slightly at an angle. Arrange them however you like.
- Add four long thin bamboo stems. They are a little further away than the stems from the first step, so they are thinner.
- Draw the joints of the bamboo. You need to draw four small ovals, dividing the stem into five approximately equal parts.
- With distant stems, repeat the same steps as in the previous step.
- Let's move on to drawing the leaves. Remember that the leaves move away from the internodes. Sketch the bamboo leaves, they should be behind the bamboo stems.
- Draw foliage in front of the bamboo stems.
- Work out the light and shade relationships. On the one hand, more light falls on the plants, therefore, it should be lighter. The opposite side is in shadow, so the shading is darker and denser there. Thinner stems are further away, so they need to be shaded more densely.
- Erase any unnecessary lines and dark spots that may have formed on your work during the drawing process. If you were not able to immediately mark the light areas, then you can do this with the help of an eraser. However, it is better to try to do this immediately and only with a pencil so that the drawing does not form unnecessaryscuffs.
Second way
Drawing bamboo is very easy. All you have to do is repeat these few simple steps. Here is the second option how to draw bamboo:
- Make a light sketch of the main stems with a hard pencil.
- Draw joints and internodes.
- Work out the chiaroscuro. It should be taken into account that on the one hand the light falls more, therefore, it is lighter, the other side, on the contrary, is darker. To draw shadows, it is better to use a soft pencil.
- Draw some leaves from different sides. They should move away from the internodes. They also need to be decorated.
- Erase any remaining sketch lines and dark spots.
Third option
And here is another option how to draw bamboo:
- Sketch the drawing by simply marking the location of the stems. For sketching, it is better to use a hard pencil.
- Give volume to the drawing by drawing the stem parallel to the outline.
- Mark the internodes and joints.
- You need to draw leaves that have grown from the internodes of bamboo.
- Draw leaves.
- Work out the light and shade relationships. One side darker, one side lighter.
If you overdid it and made the drawing too dark, highlight the desired areas with an eraser. For coloring, it is better to use a soft pencil.
